I awoke in my bed, in darkness, and I wanted it to remain that way forever. My life was darkness, and it was nothing but tragic. All it took was one second for my life to change. It went from innocent to tragic and happy to deadly. I had no purpose of living, none at all. I then threw back the grey blanket and prepared myself for my first day of school. I had decided to stay here in Mystic Falls, the place my family died, but I needed a better life, a normal life. I quickly dressed into a pair of dark grey jeans, slipped on a white tank top and pulled on sneakers. I looked at myself in the mirror, and saw the one ray of light from the closed curtains that had managed to get in, glistening on my ring. It was my Dads, but it was all I had left, the only thing I had left from my old life.
Someone then knocked on the door and then Uncle Ben walked in and said "Jack- Jeremy Gilbert is here. Hurry up so he can drive you to school." Since I knew no one, Ben had asked Jeremy Gilbert, someone I had never met, to drive me to school. I was slightly scared for today, but then again, I had nothing to lose. I hurried down the stairs and heard Ben and someone's voice in the kitchen, heading in there only to find Ben and someone else. He had scruffy dark brown hair, brown eyes and he seemed kind for a stranger. I used my hand to brush back my blonde hair and cleared my throat, then, Ben introduced the stranger as Jeremy Gilbert. "Nice to meet you-" I stopped when I realised he didn't know my name. "Bloom. Jack Bloom" I said as I shook his hand. "Ready?" He asked, and I nodded.
I followed him to the car after grabbing money for the cafeteria and jumped into the passenger seat of Jeremy's car. He started the drive and we headed for the school. "So, how have your first few weeks in Mystic Falls been" Jeremy asked. "Okay." Jeremy was smiling and he then asked "Your parents. Are they on a trip or something" Jeremy asked, but I only just found the courage to say "The accident on Wickery Bridge, a few weeks ago- that was them." Jeremy sighed and said "Sorry, I shouldn't have asked." "You didn't know, can't exactly blame you for bringing up my parents." Jeremy then said "My parents, they went over the same bridge." I apologised for his loss, and realised that was exactly what everyone said to me on the day of my family's funeral.
We then arrived at the school and I jumped out of the car, thanking him for the ride as I walked into the building, wishing I ha brought a hoodie. I then headed for the office, getting my time table, and I then headed for my locker. I arrived at my locker, opening it and finding that all my books had been placed there, and I then found a note in the bag slot. It was a yellow piece of paper and it said 'Good luck- Jeremy.' I was glad to know that I had someone to talk to, but the bell then rings and I then grab my English books and head for class. I race to the door and before I can take my seat, the teacher stops me. I walk to the front and he introduces me to the class. "Class, I'd like you to meet Mr Bloom. Please make him feel welcome and help him enjoy his day." I then realised that all seats had been taken except one beside a girl. She had long, black hair and also had coffee coloured skin, hazel brown eyes and I then plopped next to her.
I then opened my book and I then heard a voice beside me say "Hi, I'm bonnie Bennett." I look beside me, and she has her hand extended for a hand shake. I then smile and say "Nice to meet you." I then shake her hand, but I instantly get a strange vision of a pentagram on fire and she is in the centre. I finish the shake, but she looks scared. I can see she has fear in her eye, but she is trying to hide it. I then get on with my work and venture though four periods until lunch, when Jeremy finds me at my locker. "Hey Jack, I wanted you to meet my sister, Elena." I look at her, as she is beautiful. She has long, dark brown hair, flawless features and the kindest brown eyes. She is smiling and I then extend my hand to shake, an she is smiling the whole time. "Jack, what do you have next?" Jeremy asks, and I answer History, but Elena then nudges him as says "Excuse my brother. We were wondering, if you would like to have lunch with us and our friends?"
"Sure." I then walk with Elena and Jeremy into the cafeteria and I am then invited to sit down. I look around, and see no one I know, and I then sit down beside Jeremy. Opposite him, is a tall, muscular, dark haired boy who then says "Who's this guy?" Jeremy then says "He's a friend of mine" Jeremy then murmurs to me "Don't worry, he's not always such a dick." I am then introduced to the others. There was a blonde girl named Caroline Forbes, beside Elena is a muscular, light haired boy named Stefan Salvatore, next to him is a blonde boy named Matt Donovan, and the one who Jeremy called a dick was Tyler Lockwood.
Caroline begins talking about Founders Day, and I then hear a familiar voice behind me saying "Elena- we have a problem." Elena turns and asks "What's wrong," the voice continues and says "It's about Jac-" and I then turn around to see Bonnie, who is stunned to see I was here. "Hi Bonnie" I say, and she then says a forced "Hello." I then hear Bonnie pull Elena aside and the two talk, and when I look back at them, Bonnie is talking, and Elena looks at me. I turn away when she does, and I then listen and join in to everyone's conversation, while I wonder what Elena and Bonnie were talking about. Could it be me?
