I was literally on the run from death. My skin was covered in scrapes from being flicked by the branches in the woods, my clothes had many tears in them, and very little blood was falling from my cuts. I was crying, realising that I couldn't ever have a better life, not now that I had lost my family, been saved by a vampire, realised I was the son of one of the oldest supernaturals in all the world and was to be killed by that same man. My heart was beating rapidly and the sound of the thundering beats hit my ears, blocking out any other sound. The tears fell and landed among the ground, getting lost as I ran through the darkness with only the silver light of the moon to light my way.

I fell for the eighth time, hitting the ground with so much impact I could swear I heard a rib crack. I could lay there, remain there for as long as I could handle lasting without food or water, for I felt like my whole life was crumbling, spiralling toward darkness. My eyes fluttered few times, and I was focusing on the moon, finding it alluring, and as I watched it shine down on the world, a sweet, serene voice began to call my name. "Jack" it whispered, a feminine, familiar tone. I had lost all energy to turn over and look behind me, so I push my head back, facing the woods beyond the Salvatore boarding house. It was Katherine, calling me, extending her arm, luring me to her.

Even though my muscles weren't working, I rose from the floor, walking toward her, her siren song pulling me for her. As I neared her, her face grew more visible, but it was too late. It wasn't the girl I had fallen in love with- it was something else. My brain was telling me to turn toward the house and forget the woods, but I couldn't. I was pulled by the false Katherine, and as I followed the impostor deeper into the woods, my world went black, and I fell to the floor, blacking out.
