Encre looked at the two as he thought back to the last year. Fallacy the one he loved. He knew she didn't believe he could do it.
"I have one question that should tell them apart," He said walking forwards all eyes on him as his skull shone under the moonlight. Thinking back over the last year. It really wasn't hard for him to come up with a question.
"Above all else. What are you?" He asked looking at the two. He knew this question was based on the assumption that Malcro hadn't seen Fallacy's memories but the agdan religion was built around these two gods and for Fallacy he had sat down and studied. Malcro couldn't see memories. He knew that from the books. The two looked up at him both sharing the same dead look but one was different. One held this tiny glimmer behind their eyes a little light if you would call it that. That was his fallacy and he knew. That tiny glimmer of something. He didn't know what but that wasn't important.
"Consequence," One said.
"The leader of the demon hunters," The other said. Welp, he was no longer as sure about it. He had hoped Malcro would say mother and then it would have been an easy solution but then again, how would he know she had kids? Thinking back on all this. What would fallacy associate herself with more? She had been consequence for far longer than she had known most of her hunters. Though she seemed happier whenever she was with them. She was brutal when she wanted to be and had on numerous occasions thrown him at things that ended in the destruction of said thing but every time had been justified. She was always acting as if someone was looking over her shoulder to monitor what she did and how she acted. Always. She never let her guard down around him. Even when she was panicking she hid it. She always followed every rule laid out for her no matter the situation, especially after becoming a mother. The fallacy he knew was too harsh on herself she was not someone who would allow herself the indulgence of demonhunter life but at the same time, a leader rarely acted like their people. Fallacy was a diplomat who could dance on the edge of peace and war and get the outcome she wanted. Then it dawned on him. He knew who was his love.
"Kill the one to your left," He replied calmly. Eliru Shrugged and crushed the neck of said Fallacy. The head separated from the body but rather than turning to dust her brother was revealed and their battle continued once more. Encre clutched fallacy as he flew trying to evade but Malcro was trying to kill them while they fled.
"Use my Amulet," Fallacy's tired voice was heard. He looked down at her and saw it. Was that how she managed to teleport around? He thought as he thought of their bedroom and grabbed it holding it and hoping it would work. Thankfully it did. He ran head-first into the wall of his bedroom but he was honestly glad to feel the familiar cold stone walls against his bones. He collapsed still holding onto Fallacy as he cradled her in his arms. He looked up at the walls."Does this mean I fulfilled your requirements?" He asked only to look down and see her sleeping face. Just as peaceful as when she had returned from the blood moon. He loved that peaceful face. A sigh left him as he got up and carried her to his bed. He would call it theirs but she had made it clear he wasn't exactly on her good side. Not that he could blame her. He fucked up bad and he knew it. He knew he hurt her worse than anyone else the last year. He hurt her to the point that it couldn't be made up. This could be the last time they shared a bed the last chance he had to fall asleep embracing the woman he loved and even if it was wrong he didn't want to pass up the chance. He slowly changed her to her nightgown as he thought. Were they even safe at his castle? Looking at his curtains he could see a very small dot of light at the edge telling him the sun was rising. He couldn't bring them somewhere else even if he wanted to so they were stuck for now. He sighed as he lay down with her. This was most likely the last time they could lay like that. The last time he could embrace the love of his life. It was properly the last time he could hold her peaceful form as she slept. The last time he could see her like this. He wondered how he came to this. Looking back again. The first 3 months were not what he expected. At first, she was unmoving lying like a doll until she was suddenly gone having left and apparently found his not-so-dead brother. He still remembered the whirlwind of emotions he felt when she dragged him in through the gates. He remembered how mad she had been when she found out about the first-trimester party. He had never been scolded like that before nor had anyone actually tried to go against him. He smiled remembering how she in a fit of anger had put her father and his mistress in their place but he still wasn't sure as to why they took it. Then it dawned on him 22 accidents He knew his stepmother had a lot of miscar- Actually, it wasn't something he wanted to worry about right now. He smiled as he pulled the covers over them. She tried so hard to end the war never once through her pregnancy did she worry about her kids like he had thought she would. Never once was her pregnancy about her kids only their political importance. He doesn't know why he didn't see it before but it is clear to him. She never truly cared about them. Not even once. He held her closer. How could she did she even care about him? He thought about it. She properly didn't. But maybe she trusted him. Maybe just maybe she did see the possibility of a friendship if nothing else. She shared her life story. She cried on his shoulder and wanted him when her sister had turned her back on her. She could only be calmed by him when having a nightmare. He however remembered how mad he had been right after the werewolf incident when he had seen Chef carry her under one arm. Encre had been ready to have the chef executed for that alone but thankfully he didn't. Thought Encre could do nothing but feel regret towards the whole werewolf incident. How could he not have predicted that she would get kidnapped? Looking back it was only a matter of time not to mention how he acted afterwards leaving her to die and wanting to hit her for pointing out his neglect. He deeply regretted his actions more so when she wanted to protect her old friends and family. He deeply regretted hurting her. There hasn't been one day since when he hadn't regretted it or felt guilty. He knows he is alone to blame if she doesn't love him. He knows that she loved him before he fucked up and therefore he will blame himself if she disappears forever. If she leaves him to find her own life. There will be nothing holding her back if she leaves. She doesn't love her kids her old family and friends turned their back on her and she doesn't have anyone she finds worth keeping contact with in his court. A lone tear ran out of the corner of his eyes. He didn't want to let go of her. He didn't want to let her leave. Even if she didn't want to be his queen he still wanted to know where she was just to know that she was safe. No matter where he just wanted to know she was well cared for and healthy. Even if she found another man to love he just wanted to know she was safe. That she was happy. He wanted to see her smile even if he wasn't the cause of it. But it seemed so unlikely. She seemed hopeless. Her eyes seemed empty and she wanted to die. He didn't care what it would take as long as she would smile genuinely as long as someone or something could bring back her will to live. As long as someone or something could bring back the life in her eyes. Even if that someone wasn't him.
