At first, it was just heated glances. The little side looks Light would give you every time he crossed the room.
Then it turned into fleeting touches, that grew to bold arms around your waist.
You couldn't shake off the uncomfortable feeling that arose every time, like he was showing off that you belonged to his. You always thought you were overthinking it, so you would just shrug it off.
But what you couldn't shake off were the envious glares of a certain blond model watching your every moves. Her jealously and homicidal filled eyes made you shiver, but not more than the Kira suspect, who had gotten much bolder in the few months you had spent together in the Kira Task force.
But lately, shivers had been drawing up your spine whenever you see Light. He doesn't bother to hide his blatant staring and it had been rubbing you the wrong way.
Currently, you were hiding in a storage room somewhere on the 34th floor from a certain someone. Closing the door, you swore you saw something yellow pass by. You unintentionally froze before shaking your head. You rubbed your eyes with your free hand that wasn't holding a cup. You were starting to see things the longer you were paranoid, the reason why you needed a break and a distraction from Light and his girlfriend. Sipping a little bit of your still scalding tea, you almost gagged when you tasted something granular.
You spat it out and wiped your mouth with your sleeve, coughing after taking in a huge amount of what was sand with very sweet texture. Under the dark lighting, you tried to examine just what was in your tea but you couldn't see anything over than the dark surface of your cup, but the almost sickening sweet of your drink made you apprehensive. You took a finger and dipped it in the cup and your eyes widened when you recognized the granular pile at the bottom.
It was sugar! You had accidentally taken Ryuzakis tea! The innumerable sugar cubes turned to mush and you realized, with concern for Ls health and why he hadn't gotten diabetes yet, that the tea was more than 3/4 sugar. There was barely any tea itself.
With disgust, you put the cup away on a shelf, wondering with disgust how L could even eat it, let alone like it. It was too sweet, way too sweet, with a mix of something strange. What was it? You tried to think. Well, it probably wasn't too important, just another weird thing L likes to put in his drink.
A minute passed and you felt your breath growing heavier. You leaned against the shelf in utter exhaustion but the muscles in your legs gave out, causing you to fall to the cold floor.
"Wha-" You yawned, slumping down further.
The closet was dark and secluded, but it was not a place you wanted to nap in, so you tried to get up and turn on the light, but you fell to the ground. Luckily, you didn't get hurt too badly, but you wanted to get out. Something was going on to you and you didn't want to be alone.
The light in the hallway seeped through the crack and you crawled closer, seeing a few shadows shift under the door.
"I'm in here." You managed to whisper, finding yourself too tired to scream. "Please, help."
The doorknob jiggled and opened slowly for added suspense. Then, a familiar shiver drew up your spine. How did the person know where you were so quickly? You weren't gone for so long as to warrant suspicious and you were sure no one had followed or seen where you were going. As you thought more about it, your breath hitched in fear. Why hadn't the person saying anything? Not unless, they didn't want you to know who they were.
Light, you wanted to say, to warn him to get away. He probably planned this whole thing, by freaking you out with his behaviour so you would try to find a safe haven. Then, when he'd have you by yourself, he would 'accidentally' swap yours and Ryuzakis drinks and laced it with some kind of sleeping pill.
You knew the young Yagami was smart, but to be this disturbingly manipulative was enough to make you shake.
"Hey, it's ok." A surprisingly gentle hand wiped away the tears you didn't know you were shedding. "I'm here."
It wasn't a male voice, which you were thankful for, but as you looked up, Misas smiling face greeted you. She held your face in her hands while you were still laying down on your stomach. You could feel your eyes fluttering shut but you saw her lick your tears. You cringed in shock and tried to move away but the drug and Misa held you still.
"Your tears taste so good too, but I'm not surprised! Everything you do is amazing, maybe that's why Light loves you!" Her tone was chirpy but there was malice behind her voice. You couldn't even shudder. Misa was going to kill you and there would be no witnesses.
"But you!" Misa pulled you to her chest with a newfound energy, wrapping her hands around you. "You are mine, but Light doesn't seem to be listening. He never does!" She pouted childishly, petting your head lovingly. "So, I'll have to take you for myself before he does! No one is good enough for you, not even Kira."
You weren't surprised she had just admitted Light was Kira. Behind his mask, you always knew there was someone different, but you were more petrified because of Misa. From her words, she seemed to be just as crazy as Light, or even more. She kept talking about introducing her to her Shinigami and how you'll love your new home. Another tear dripped down your cheek as the sleeping pill finally kicked in.
"Don't leave me! If you do, I'll kill all the people you've ever talked to!"
