You looked both ways before running on the worn down path. The tall grass was as yellow as the last of the evening rays and was too dense to cut through. Looking ahead, you saw a short distance, easily crossable, the telltale sign of tall trees approached rapidly. The forest seemed dark and was only bound to get darker as the sun set but you were counting on it to escape from your capturer.

Then, suddenly, you felt a presence behind you and footsteps. How was he already on your trail? You were sure you had picked the right time to plan your escape. Well, no time for that, you thought, trying not to panic. In your haste, you tripped over a large stone that was loose. Skidding across the gravel, you fell to the concrete as the person ran closer.

No! I have to keep going, you scream at yourself.

Ignoring the pain and scrapes on your knees, you remember your previous escape attempts. Instead of attempting your previous mistakes, you roll over and this time, preparing for the intruder, jump to your feet, launching a careless punch to their throat.

Light easily caught it and raised a brow.

"Running away again? Did you forget I can kill your family in just a few seconds?" He threatened condescendingly.

You snatched your hand away from his grasp and glared back. "You're the one who forgot. You killed my whole family last week!"

For once, he was in shock but he regained his façade, albeit confused. "I didn't kill your entire family."

You crossed your arms, still remembering how he dragged you to your parents home to see them die of heart attacks because you tried to escape. "You did! Don't try and deny it."

"Are you sure? All of them?"

"Yes! I'm sure you killed them!" You yelled back. Your cousins and uncles and aunts were given the same fate as your parents when you said he wasn't special and he was just a manipulative psycho with a god complex.

"You can't mean all of them." His face was incredulous. "I'm sure I didn't wipe out all of them."

"But you did!" You were also pretty sure that even distant cousins whom you had never met were also hunted down by Kira when you said L was better.

"But I didn't? Have you been imagining things?"

You stumbled back and shook your head to get rid of his words that had began to affect you as if by magic. "Stop it! Stop your mind games! You literally just admitted you killed my family not even a few seconds ago."

"When?"

"You-you sicko!" You launched at him again in pure fury when he had denied the atrocious acts he had committed. Mind driven by revenge, you momentarily forgot that you were dealing with a deranged man who could end you with a notebook.

You hit him square in the jaw and he fell down, bringing you down with him as he wrapped his arms around you. As a result, you toppled down on top of him, still throwing punches.

"You freaking killer! You're a murderer! All you do is kill, kill, kill and that's what you did to my mom and dad and freaking everyone! You're no god, you're a demon!" With every sentence, you hit him so strongly he could feel his bones rattle.

You teared up when you mentioned your family and you felt arms wrap around you in a warm hug.

"No, no, no, no, no!" You banged your fists against his chest in futility as you were brought onto his lap. No matter how tall or short you were, Light had an aura that seemed bigger-than-life and suffocating that made you shrivel. You were sure it was enough to kill someone with looks alone.
