"It's time to make a wish!" Misa squealed in your ear, rocking you back and forth excitedly.
"Geez, Misa. From the way you're acting, it's as if it's your birthday instead of mine." You roll your eyes, a light smile still stretched across your mouth. One arm was loosely hung around Misas shoulder while the other was holding onto the cake knife, ready to cut a piece.
L impatiently pushed the cake on the table closer to you, an anticipated look on his face. "Cut. Cake. Now."
Light laughed, subtly pushing him away. "It's Y/Ns birthday. At least pretend not to be a diabetic glutton today."
The dark haired man didn't even spare him a glance, instead giving all his attention to you. "Y/N wouldn't have invited me here if she didn't like me for my diabetic gluttony."
Actually, technically, factually, precisely, specifically, veridically, matter-of-factly, truly-
You didn't invite them. Not to celebrate your birthday, because you don't recall telling them about your birthday. And certainly not to your house, in which you don't even remember telling them the address to.
But, you didn't mind. You found the trio amusing in some way, even though their situations are very ironic. They even took the extra mile and bought you a cake! It was your favourite flavour, and again, you didn't know how they knew but hey, it was free cake.
"I wish," You start saying out loud, thinking into the thin air. Your fingers drum on the table as you get ready to blow out the candles. "For-"
"Shush!" Misa covers your mouth with her hand unexpectedly. She was pressed against your back and the force of her action caused your hand to bend back with her hand. "Don't you know you're not supposed to say your wishes out loud? They won't come true that way!"
Your eyes are widened in shock at the close proximity and embarrassment was clear on your face.
Light had a half smile, a little torn between being irked at Misas actions or thinking your expressions were cute. "Misa's right. You should blow out your candle and then think of your wish."
L pushed the cake in your direction silently, one side an inch off the edge of the table.
You nod quickly, mostly to get Misas hand off you. Reluctantly with a whine, she stepped away from you when Light gave her a warning glare. Your heart was still beating fast.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" L thinned his mouth into a straight line. No doubt he was waiting for you to serve the cake.
"PaTiEnCe RyUzAkI. YoU'rE nOt ThE bIrThDaY gIrL." You tease, mocking him for fun for a few seconds.
Then, you blow out the rainbow candles quickly with a puff. Mentally, in your head, you made your wish, scrunching your eyes shut.
Light was a master at keeping a straight face so he was able to resist his smile at your behaviour. You looked so cute with your nose scrunched up in thought. He could watch you all day-
You sneezed, covering it with the crook of your elbow as you turned around the other way.
"Wonder who was thinking about me?" You joked, picking the knife up again. "Looks like I got some secret admirers."
You cut the cake, humming a small tune. "How'd y'all know my favourite flavour?"
Misa froze, giggling nervously, still hovering around your back. She looped her hands around your neck and depending on your height, she either had to tiptoe to lean her head on your shoulder or completely dig her face into your shoulder blade.
