(Alternate ending to 'You love me', it's recommended to read that first but you don't have to)

"You can leave."

Shock was the first thing that crossed your mind when you heard your kidnapper utter those 3 words. "Huh?"

Light hummed softly before turning you around, letting go of your shoulders. "You heard me. If you don't love me and want to leave, you can leave. It's your decision."

When you finally registered what had just happened, you whipped around to face him accusatorily. "This is another one of your tricks, isn't it!"

Light tilted his head seemingly innocently. "Trick? What trick?"

Eyebrows knitted together in confusion, you were confused. He sacrificed so much for you to be with him and now he was voluntarily letting you go. Something wasn't right.

"I'm not stupid!" Your voice rises at the thought of being inferior. "You probably lined the forest with bear traps or something. You won't let me go that easily!"

He quirked up an eyebrow and smirked. "Are you saying you want me to not let you go?"

Your stance shook as you stumbled back. "That's not what I'm say-"

"Do you want me to take you back?"

"No!" You shot down that request.

"Then leave. I'm not stopping you." Light shrugged and began to walk away.

Freezing in confusion, you really wondered if it was real. It sounded too good to be true but you had to admit, it was tempting.

Lights mind was too complex for you to decipher, but one thing was for sure.

He didn't intend to let you go.

Then why would he give you the option? You were still standing there, not sure which direction to go. Potential freedom or Light. One option was either a trap designed to break your spirit and the other was another attempt at breaking your spirit. Both options were equally bad and you didn't want to choose either.

But, as you watch his silhouette walk farther away, you decide to run for it. You knew that if you didn't at least try, then you would regret it.

Just like all those other times.

It can't be that bad, right? You tried to convince yourself as you looked at the rocky path. Feeling torn, you made your decision, dashing as far away from your kidnapper as you could. Running into the woods, you wondered if there was anywhere to go for help.

Probably not, otherwise he wouldn't have let me go, but it's ok, right? You'd rather survive on your own than stay with the murderer any longer.

Was it a good choice? Probably not.

Was it better than the other option? By a landslide.

This situation was eerily familiar, with you running through the forest barefoot. How many times had you found yourself in this predicament? Too many times to count. You felt shame arise every time you thought because despite escaping, you always returned back. It was either the guilt or the helplessness that came with it.

It was all Lights plan but it was your fault for falling for it.

Wait! It wasn't your fault- you're the victim. If anyone is at fault, it's the 19 year olds because he likes controlling you. Forcing yourself to remember that, you chant that through your mind.

The cold seeped through your thin clothes and you sniffled, refusing to return to your kidnapper.

You don't know what you'd do if you ended back up at that small, yet cozy cottage with the warm fire-
