Okay, before you start reading, I wanna apologise. I know it's been a while, and honestly I have no excuse lol. Just a nasty bout of Writers Block. And I can't really say I'm 100% happy with this piece, but I don't think I'll be able to write something I'm satified with, so I'm publishing this anyway. I hope you enjoy it, don't hate me too much for the delay.

When the police asked Chris to join the search for Josh on the mountain, he didn't hesitate to say yes, despite the fact Ashley, Mike and, surprisingly, Emily had begged him not to.

"You can't! It's dangerous Chris, who knows what's happened in the two weeks since we left!" Ashley told him when he got off the phone and told her what the police had asked him.

"Dude, are you fucking crazy?! He's dead! Those fuckers got to him, and then almost got to us. It's so dangerous! You could die!" Mike exclaimed when Chris had sat down with the group to tell them.

"That's what I said!" Ash said, looking at Chris pointedly.

"She's right Chris, you're insane if you're even considering going back!" Emily added, reaching across the table to put a hand on Chris' arm and beside her, Mike winced.

"Poor choice of words Em,"

"Shut up Michael."

Emily still hadn't quite forgiven Mike for almost shooting her in the basement.

"I'm going," Chris had told all three of them, as well as the rest of the group. "He's my best friend, and he's down there all alone. I'll regret it if I don't at least try to find him,"

"And if he's dead?" Emily asked. "Why are you willing to go back there if there's a high chance that the only thing you're gonna find is his body, ripped into pieces!"

"Em!" Matt reprimanded, and she waved him off.

"I'm serious. If Josh is dead, which there is a significant chance he is, you're just giving the remaining Wendigos a police buffet to destroy,"

"That's not gonna happen Em, we'll be careful, and we'll have weapons," Chris told her, and Emily eyebrows knitted together, frustrated. She opened her mouth to argue some more when Jess spoke up.

"I don't get it though," she said, voice still hoarse and healing. "Why'd they ask you, of all of us? Not that you're not capable!" she added hurriedly. "I just mean, well, you never even went down into the mines. Why not Sam, or Mike? Or Em? Even me and Matt had more experience down in the mines than you."

Chris shrugged.

"They said Josh is most likely to respond to me, if he's in trouble."

He hesitated for a second, looking over at Sam sitting silent in the corner of the room, before adding;

"They say because I was closest with him, I'm the least likely to be hurt by him if he has given in to the hunger and eaten human flesh,"

Everyone at the table involuntarily shuddered, and Matt spoke up.

"What exactly do they want you to do?"

Chris shrugged again.

"Lead them around the mountain, explain what happened that night, take them down into the mines, tell them what exactly we learned while we were there,"

Ashley spoke up.

"I don't like it. And I still don't think you should go. It's too dangerous, and I'm not saying Josh deserves to be left down there alone, if he is alive, but what he did to us up there was pretty screwed up, even if he was sick. He let us down, and you're not letting him down by not going back to the mountain to find him,"
