Jisu always loved writing, it was her passion. As a child, she adored how writers could whisk you away from your chair all the way to a whole new world. Finishing a book would always feel like saying goodbye to a friend, but then opening a new cover would mean getting to know new characters.
Fiction was greater than reality. That was always her thinking.
Fictional characters set the standards for her.
So as an adult, Jisu took a career as a novelist. Well, more like a side career for now. As much as she loved writing, it doesn't pay all the bills.
So she works as a website designer while aspiring to be a famous author. But as of late, she had been stuck on her latest novel. She just couldn't seem to find the inspiration to write.
Jisu had been working on a romance novel for weeks, but she just couldn't seem to get past the first chapter. It wasn't that she didn't know what love was, she just hadn't experienced it herself. How could she write about something she couldn't imagine?
Jisu was in her office, staring at her computer screen with a blank expression.
"Writer's block really got you this time, huh?"
Yeji, her boss who owns the small publishing company Jisu works part time in. Came into her office and saw the empty document. She was also the oldest and one of the few friends Jisu has."UGH Why does it have to romance anyway.." Jisu messes with her hair in frustration.
"I saw that Chaeryeong sent back your last draft, there was nothing wrong with the characters and the build up, but she said that you couldn't quite capture the feeling of being in love...well the last part doesn't really surprise me, since you've been single your whole life. HA"
Jisu glares at her.
"I took a double major in college, then worked 2 jobs as soon as I graduated, so excuse me if I don't have the time nor interest to be in a relationship."
"See that right there is the problem, you barely have time for yourself, and you don't get out much. Living in the fantasy world won't let you finish this book."
"But it worked before..why don't we just change the story please-"
"Jisu, your other stories are great, adventure, the power of friendship, all the stuff, but we need other varieties."
"Oh come on Yej-"
"Why don't she just get some" Chaeryeong joins the conversation.
Both Jisu and Yeji whips their heads.
"WHAT"
"Interesting.."
"I mean, if her problem is not having inspiration, why not date someone to get resource material, if you know what I mean." Chaeryeong continued.
"She has a point Jisu." Yeji grins at her.
"NO Absolutely not, I will not throw away my dignity-"
"Oh stop being dramatic, look I'm not saying just date anyone, that would be pointless..I think you need some time off, and discover what love means to you."
Chaeryeong nods in approval.
"I know what love is, love is simply an electrical bug in the human neural circuit."
Jisu crosses her arms.
