The sun had long gone, a path so dark even the moon decided to hide. Ryujin stared at the night sky. She was lost, walking around the beach with a wandering mind was not a good idea. Yet even in the shadow of regret, she looked serene under the starlight. The scent of the sea with the summer breeze was comforting.
Looking at the endless number of stars, Ryujin tries to get a handle on all the individual and unrelated thoughts that are scampering around in her head.
How her dreams are limitless and crazy, wanting to shine like the stars above her. How she’s always thinking about a certain someone in her fragile daydreams. How she thinks that, even if all the stars are out in the skies, Lia’s eyes would still be the brightest.
But like the night sky, she keeps her feelings deep in the darkness. Pretending not to hear a voice in her heart.
Her smile, makes my heart beat faster. Her hand, I’m always drawn to it. Is it okay for me to hold it...or should I just be contented that we're under the same sky.
A strong gust of wind caused her to shiver, she’s been out for a while. With no phone, she lost track of the time.
The hotel should be around north, which means…
Ryujin finds a set of 7 stars that could lead her home, The Big Dipper. So she follows the Grand Chariot that points to Polaris, the North Star.
So there she goes with her hands wrapped around herself, eagerly wanting to be under a blanket for warmth.
I don’t think I’m going the right way.
She’s been walking for a few minutes but still no sign of the hotel.
With her back against a dark wall, Ryujin was beginning to accept that she wouldn’t be getting any sleep tonight, her thoughts of wanting to see Lia is the only thing that’s making her legs move.
In the midst of her uncertainties,
swinging between hope and despair. It's as if the night sky gave her a ray of hope in the form of a shooting star. She shuts her eyes, entrusting her feelings to the falling star.
"CHOI JISU I LOVE YOU!"
She shouted at the oblivion, thinking it was just her and the darkness..that is until.
“Ryujin!”
Ryujin’s world stops momentarily when she sees her. The cause of her euphoria, the moon child with crescent eyes when she smiles.
Lia walks up to the younger girl who’s standing in silence.
“I knew I’d find you here. You were gone all night.”
“All night? I was gone that long? How’d you know where to find me?”
“Let’s just say I know you better than you know yourself.” Lia flashed a smile.
With the warmth igniting in her chest Ryujin no longer needed a blanket.
That’s when it clicked. She didn’t need the guidance of the 7
stars, she just needed to follow her inner compass that leads to her True North, Lia.“I’m sorry it took me getting lost, to finally be brave to say this, I love you Lia, always have, you're my True North.” Ryujin’s voice was quiet, Lia’s heartbeat started to quicken.
"It makes sense, I guess you're mine too."
The younger just tilted her head.
"For some reason I’m always drawn to you, so no matter where you go, I'll always find you, even when the shadow looms, I'll search for your voice."
Lia reached for Ryujin’s hand. "I love you too."
They looked into each other’s eyes so deep, they didn’t notice dawn began to break.
Lia smiled and tightened her grip on Ryujin’s hand. “Let’s go home.”
“I’m already home.”
“What?”
“Lia, you’re my home.”
Ryujin’s eyes kept their gaze firmly locked on Lia’s, the only person who could look into her eyes without getting blinded by how bright it is.
