Ryujin was a regular employee in the bustling city of Seoul. Caffeine fueled her mornings, and life as an office worker was as ordinary as it could get.Every night she would imagine the life she could lead, the things she could do, but she stayed behind at her monotonous job just to make ends meet and fund her beloved hobbies.
She had a comfortable, but ordinary life and thought nothing ever would change.
Little did she know that her life was about to take a drastically different turn when she opened the door of her humble apartment and encountered her new roommate, Lia.
"I think Lia might be a vampire." Ryujin said.
From the desk next to her, Yeji stared at her.
"I'm sorry, what?"
"My new roommate, Lia."
"Didn't she move in with you last month?"
"Well, yeah." Ryujin shifted in her seat. "She rarely comes out of her room - and when she does, it's always at night."
"That seems like a bit of a stretch, don't you think?" Yeji laughed. "You said she was a writer, right? Maybe she works night shift."
Ryujin shook her head in disbelief. "No, it's something else."
"What? Did she bite you or something?"
Ryujin thought about it for a moment, before shrugging and responding in an embarrassed tone. "Ummm... I don't know. Her skin looks like porcelain, her eyes sparkle like the stars, and her voice is so captivating it could lure anyone. I just have this feeling, you know."
Yeji nodded and grinned. "Yeah, I think I know."
"Right, so you believe me?"
Yeji smiled "Yes, I believe you have a crush on your roommate."
Ryujin's face went flush and she stammered, "That...That's not why I'm telling you this!"
"I mean really? Her eyes sparkle like the stars? You my friend, are in love."
Ryujin blushed and looked away. "I'm just very observant!"
"Observant my ass. It took you months to notice that I have a mole on my nose."
"What? I thought it was ink."
"See? My point exactly. You never bothered to tell me, yet here you are going gaga over your roommate's eyes. You, Shin Ryujin, who's never interested in anyone because her standards are oh so high."
"Would you guys keep it down." Chaeryeong approached their desks with her arms folded. "What are you fussing about anyway?"
"Ryujin has a crush on her roommate."
"My roommate is a vampire."
Chaeryeong wasn't even fazed by their responses.
"Okay first, I think Ryujin having a crush on anyone is as rare as meeting a vampire, and second, Ryujin, I think you're reading too much webtoons, if you want your wild fantasies to come true, I suggest you go out more."
Yeji laughed and teased Ryujin even further.
"I suggest you two stop chattering and get back to work."
