Once inside the party, Stacey and I pushed our way through all the bodies to get to the dance floor. Stacey has always been one for a dance. We laugh at the top of our lungs whilst we dance. I notice a few boys looking at Stacey. Wouldn't blame them, she's drop dead gorgeous whilst wearing a short, red dress that outlines her body. I'm surprised she chose me to be her best friend. I notice Orlando grab her and start dancing with her. She doesn't say no so I squeeze out the crowd for a breath of fresh air. Stacey and Orlando are almost a couple; maybe after the party they will be.
"Cass?!" I hear someone say with shock in their voice. I turn around to see Drake standing there. I smile at him.
"Hi" I say whilst going in to hug him. He hugs me back.
"What are you doing here? I thought parties weren't your thing!" He exclaims whilst breaking the hug.
"No they're not but I told Stace I'd come so, here I am! I thought you had somewhere to be?" I question. He puts his hands in his pockets and doesn't look at me.
"Yeah, I had to meet someone. I'm with them at the moment actually but when I saw you, I had to check it was you! Are you sure you're well enough to be here?" He questions. There's worry in his tone. "It's just that, you've been feeling unwell and my mum texted me saying you're mum was worried about you..." He states. I sigh.
"I'm fine! Ugh, why does my mum has to stick her nose in everything?!" I start to annoyed. Drake looks at me.
"She's just trying to look out for you! Like I am and Stacey!" He says whilst pointing inside.
"Well did I ask for anyone to do that?! No!" I yell. I pause as soon as I say it. He looks shocked.
"Drake," I sigh "I'm sorry. It's just..." I wasn't able to finish my sentence due to the floods of tears that come rushing down my face. Drake pulls me in for a hug and I don't protest. He strokes my hair.
"It's going to be okay, I promise." He tells with a soothing tone. It works as I stop crying and I nod my head. Now it's my time to break the hug.
"Now you," I say whilst poking him, "Go find your friend!" I order. He starts to walk back in. "Oh and one more thing," I call out. He turns back to me. "Does my make-up look bad?" I joke. He chuckles.
"Nah, I looks fine" he smiles and head back in. My phone goes off in my bag and I decide to look at it. It's mum.
Cassidy, I'm sorry. I just got off the phone with your dad. He wants to see you before you go to his. We need to talk! Please be home soon, I love you. Mum xx
Ugh, no thank you! I decide to head back inside to find Stacey.
She's exactly where I left her dancing with Orlando. This time however, she's holding a drink. I check my phone which reads 9:15pm. I'm not ready to go home just yet. I look around looking out for Jaz. However, I spot someone else. Someone from my near past. Austin. His brown mop of a hair was a giveaway it was him, even after a year and a half. His green eyes have lingering in my mind ever since the day he moved schools. I doubt he'll even remember me, he was cool and I wasn't. Then again, we did almost get together. Austin always stands out from the crowd has he is lanky which I loved about him. Austin and I had, as cheesy as it sounds, a summer romance and come September, he moved schools. Lost in all my memories of him, I didn't realise that he was gone from my vision. I spun around to see where he went and lost my footing. However, someone caught me before I fell completely over. I look up to see Austin grinning, looking down at me.
"Well, well, well," He started "If it isn't Cassie Jenkins!" He exclaims whilst putting me back on my feet. He looks me up and down.
"You haven't changed one bit!" He states. I smile and look at him.
"Haha, well, what can I say?!" I say jokingly. He grins that his semi-dimples come through.
"I noticed you earlier but you were with Stacey so I thought I'd wait till you were by yourself to catch up with. Wanna go somewhere where we can catch up?" He asks. I thought he'd never ask.
"Yeah, just a sec! I just need to find my friend. She's new you see and well, I don't have many friends." I admit. I scan round the room again whilst Austin stands next to me.
"I'll help! What does she look like?" He asks.
"She's got Strawberry blonde hair that goes half way down her back. She's about 5 foot 6 and her eyes are a hazel colour." I describe. I feel as if I know her features too well.
"You mean that girl there?" Austin asks pointing. I follow his gaze to see Jaz. Her hand is interlocked with a boy with fairly long chestnut brown hair. His back is turned at me and they are locked into each other's gaze. Jaz looks over his shoulder at me. She looks shocked with pity in her eyes.
"I'm sorry" She mouths at me. I smile in confusion. The guy turns around and my heart drops. It's Drake. The whole world seemed to be going in slow motion. She's only just met the guy! I want to faint more than ever at this moment but, Austin puts his arm around my waist and lead me outside. I looked back to find Jaz away from Drake and him looking down at the floor. I never want to see neither of them again.
