“Okay so today we’ll be going over our notes from yesterday” Mr Pinkinson states. Geography lessons are always great. “Also students, this is Jazmine. She’ll be joining our class.” He says. I look at her and can tell that she is scouting the class. There is something about her that seems different to most other new students. As soon as she spots me at the back, her eyes widen and catches her breath. I smile awkwardly back and carry on with my work.
I leave the class hastily so I can get to my next lesson so I’m not late.
“Hey!” I heard someone call. I turned to see the new girl smiling at me. “I’m Jazmine but please call me Jaz” she says with no care in the world.
“Um, hi. I’m Cassie” I say whilst trying to hint that I need to get going.
“I’m lost! Do you know where the art block is? I’m not used to being in such a huge school” she admits.
“Er, yeah. That’s where I’m heading now! And really? That’s weird. Where did you come from?” I ask whilst showing her the way to our next lesson.
“Thanks. Um, it’s complicated” She says whilst looking away. I don’t press her to tell me why. I just smile and keep walking on.
“Will you meet me after art? I have no one to hang out with and you seem really nice! Plus it’s lunch after and I don’t think people will take much notice of me” she says whilst looking at the ground. I know that I’m not the easiest to get on with, I’m just not normal. I look at her. She is drop dead gorgeous and I’m sure all the boys, including Drake, will be all over her. I can tell that she and I are the complete opposite. I hope I don’t regret my decision.
“Sure, seeing you later then!” I say, hoping it’ll cheer her up. She smiles, hugs me and rushes into her lesson. I swiftly head to mine and ponder if this is some sort of joke or not.At the end of the lesson, I found Stacey and Jaz talking to each other. My attempt for another friend seems to have failed. I start to head the other way, hoping they won’t see me.
“Hey Cassie! Over here!” I hear Jaz call. I sighed, put on a smile and turned around. They bought it and waved me over. How long will I be keeping this up for?We grab our lunches and sit together at a table near the centre of the oblivion of a canteen. I turn around and notice Drake on the table opposite. He’s laughing with all his friends and they’re fake punching each other. He catches my eyes and smiles. I smile back before he laughed and looked away. My heart skipped a beat. I go back into the conversation with Jaz and Stacey. Whilst laughing, I suddenly felt a cold breeze rush over me before lingering. I look around and everything seems to be different. No one seems to notice. I stand up and see a little boy staring at me. He must be 8 and for some bizarre reason, his hair is floating around him.
“Help us Cassidy, you’re our only hope!” He cries. “Save us from the evil one who is trying to wipe us out! He won’t stop and he’ll kill anyone who tries to stops him but you can prevent this!” He pleaded. My heart starts racing and my world starts spinning at an unbelievable rate. The vision starts to fade and people start to notice. They’re all whispering to each other. Stacey hides her face, Jaz has no expression and Drake is telling all his friends to shut up about me. I start to cry whilst I stumble towards the doors out to stop people staring. However, my vision is being coated with black dots.I never made it to the door, the floor seemed to have found me first.
“Cassie?”
