I had no idea where Austin and I we heading and to be honest, I didn't really care. I just clung onto myself trying to prevent my heat from escaping. The same thing kept rolling through my mind. He's a human. She's a mermaid. It's like fricking Ariel the little mermaid!
"Here." Austin said whilst wrapping his jacket around me. It suddenly occurred to me that I hadn't noticed that he was wearing casual wear for the party. Then again he did look good in his baggy top which was white with grey sleeves that just pass his shoulders, black jeans which grip onto his legs which are all bones and a jacket which is now on me.
"Thanks." Is all I manage to say.
"Come on," He says whilst taking my hand, "let's take you somewhere warm." Even though his hand was warming me up already. Sadly we don't walk far hand in hand as he lets go to allow both of us to get on his motorbike. He hands me a helmet.
"Only the one?" I ask. He chuckles.
"I wasn't expecting to take anyone on here tonight!" He admits. I brush my hair back out my face, slide the helmet on and wrap my arms around his waist.
"Ready?" He asks. I know he won't be able to hear me so I nod my head. The engine sparks into action.
"Hold on tight!" He calls. I cling onto him tighter.
Driving through Liverpool at night took my breath away. Seeing places lit up and all the car lights whizzing past us. For the first time in a long time, I didn't feel like I was in solitude. We pulled over near the docks and I shock my hair whilst taking of the helmet.
"You alright?" Austin asked with his hand out to help me off. I accepted his offer and took his hand.
"Yes thanks, are you?" I asked. He smiled at me.
"More than alright." He said whilst leading me to a little café. Once inside, I suddenly felt 10 times warmer.
"What would you like?" He offered. I scanned the menu for the hot drinks to warm me up even more. Then again, I knew what I wanted.
"Hot chocolate please." My favourite. He smiled at me.
"Hot chocolate and a tea please." He ordered. I turned around to find us somewhere to sit. I choose the table in the corner which is pressed up against the window which overlooks the sea. I look out at the sea and think about how Jaz's family are doing and how far away are they. I almost didn't hear my phone go off. I check it to find a message from Stacey.
Where are you?! Jaz, Drake, Orlando and I are trying to find you! You better have a good explanation for leaving me like this! Btw, I'm staying over at Orlando's with Jaz and Drake tonight so will you be alright finding your own way back? Xoxo
I don't bother to reply. Instead I turn my phone off and burry it at the bottom of my bag. I look over to see Austin heading my way with our drinks.
"Here we are, a hot chocolate for you" He says whilst placing my drink in front of me.
"Thanks" He smiles at me over the top of his drink. I instead wrap my hands around my drink. It burns my hands but I'm too cold to care.
"So what's the deal then?" He asks. I shoot at him a confused face. "Oh come on Cassie! You've just ignored a message from someone, most likely to be from Stacey, left the party in a hurry with me and just look like you want to cry." He says whilst placing his hand on top of mine. I look down at our hands and then back up to him.
"Life." I blame. He raises one eye brow. I sigh and decide to explain but, only certain bits. "Won't stop fainting and my dad is picking me up to take me to live with him as my mum can't cope." I say. That's all I'm able to say as tears start to prevent me from saying anymore. I take my hand away from his to wipe my eyes.
"Hey," He starts, "it'll be okay! I promise." He sounds so much like Drake and I don't want him to seem like Drake to me. I shake the thought out of my head. "When's your dad going to pick you up?" He asks.
"Mum is trying to make it within the next week or so." I admit.
"Where does your dad live?"
"Warrington."
"That's good then!" He exclaims.
"How come?" I ask. He take my hand again.
"Because that means you'll be living near me again!" A smile actually grew on my face.
"That's fantastic because that means I get to see you more!" I say. He looks at his watch.
"Drink up, I'll take you home then." He says whilst returning his mug to the counter. I read the clock on that wall which states 11:30pm. My mum is going to kill me.
Once outside, Austin gives me his jacket again.
"Wait here, I'll grab my motorbike and pick you up." He says. I nod and he walks off.
"Hello Cassidy." I hear from behind. I freeze on the spot. I know that voice from anywhere. "Don't try to run because I'll just catch up. Shame no one can help you right now." He mocks.
"What do you want from me?" I demand. I hear him chuckle.
"Nothing of use just yet but, when you're living in Warrington..." My eyes widen.
"How do you know?" I ask. Once again, he laughs.
"I know all about you Cassidy. However, I'm going to make you forget about our little meeting here tonight." He states. I close my eyes to stop the tears. When I open then, he's standing right in front of me.
"Goodnight Cassidy." He says. I look closer at him and something stands out...His eyes! I've seen them before but I can't remember where. Before I had the chance to ask, my vision was being impaled by black dots. Instead of falling, I choose to like on the floor. The last thing I see is the stars...fading from my vision.
