LXVIII. SLEEPLESS NIGHTS

CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHT
"sleepless nights"

"Keep an eye out on those trees, we don't really know where this guy is," Michelle said through the phone strapped to Peter's chest. "I genuinely don't know how you do this without throwing up."

Since Peter had to wear his suit inside out, they taped his phone to him so they could see what was going on. They used Jade's suit to keep track of where they were and connected her helmet to one of the laptops.

They finally landed at the location, slowly walking to listen in on what could be around. Jade tried having VERONICA scan the area but nothing was picking up. The signal was too fuzzy to get any visuals.

Suddenly, something jumped at the corner of Jade's eye, her head jerked towards the movement, the quiet mechanic noise of her suit followed.

"Did you guys see that?" Peter whispered.

"Um... no?" Michelle whispered back.

"It's— it's really dark," Ned said.

Jade continued to slowly look around, something was definitely here.

"Okay, okay, okay," Peter whispered shakily.

Then he stopped suddenly, making Jade stop too. Something was happening behind them. Jade felt something light up in her, she somehow felt stronger as her hands began to spark without her trying.

"Wha-What's happening?" Ned whispered.

"What is it? Are you getting the tingle thing? Is the tingle thing happening? Are your tingles tingling?" Michelle asked quickly.

Jade and Peter looked towards each other before jumping around to look at what was happening. It was electricity flickering from the power towers. It looked like it was forming a body.

"Are you guys seeing this?" Peter asked.

"Yeah,"

"Osborn?"

"No. He was green. This guy's blue," Peter mumbled to them. "Uh! You wouldn't happen to be from another universe, would you?"

Jade tried starting up her repulsor, ready to fire, but she couldn't get them to start. Her helmet screen was glitching pretty bad.

"What is he doing?" Michelle asked.

"I don't know— it looks like he's charging," Peter replied.

"I think it's messing with my suit," Jade said, having trouble controlling everything. She tapped her chest twice and the suit formed off her. Guess I'm stuck on the ground, she thought to herself.

"I don't like this. Just web him!" Michelle said.

Peter fired the magical web and it went right through the person.
