CHAPTER SEVENTY-SEVEN
"because of you"

"Are you okay?!" Jade asked as she flew to grab Michelle from the air.

Jaidan's suit was doing the bare minimum in keeping Michelle in the air. Jade grabbed onto the arms and floated her and Michelle down to the ground level.

"I'm— I'm fine... I think," Michelle answered wearily. "Where's Ned?!"

"Um..." Jade hummed, scanning the area for him. VERONICA picked up his location and showed Strange's cloak wrapped around his neck, bringing him down to ground level as well. "He's okay!"

Michelle let out a big sigh, "Thank Thor,"

Once Jade got Michelle out of the suit she ran around the corner to find him, "Ned!"

When Jade caught up with them, she saw Michelle jump into his arms and held onto him tight. She smiled softly, glad they were both okay.

"MJ! NED! JADE!"

Jade looked to where the voice was coming from and ran over to the edge looking out towards the bay, "Peter!"

"Are you okay?!" He asked once he saw them.

"We're okay!" Michelle answered.

Jade looked closely at Peter, he was tired and she could tell his breathing was hard at the way his chest moved up and down. She hoped he was okay. But then she saw Goblin getting up slowly, she watched and waited.

"Poor, Peter! Too weak to send me home to die!" He said, Jade only able to hear because of her enhanced hearing.

"What's he saying? What's he saying?" Ned asked, looking towards Peter and Goblin still.

"He's taunting him," Jade answered. She knew Peter's hatred for Norman was strong, but she didn't want Peter to do something he would regret.

She pulled her chest plate off and attached it to Michelle's, "Keep this on," she said.

"Wh-What are you going to do?" Michelle asked, grabbing her arm before Jade could run off.

"I have to stop, Peter," she said.

"But he killed May, don't you think this is.... his fate?"

Jade paused for a moment, she couldn't believe what she said.

"It may be, but it's not Peter's job—"

BOOM.

Jade looked over to see Peter had punched the shield, making a dent and a loud sound that echoed across the bay.

"Stay here," Jade said, pulling her arm out from Michelle's grasp.

Jade was running low on energy, so she saved her super speed for an emergency only. She opened a portal and jumped in it, standing behind Goblin and kicking him to the side, away from Peter.
