Chapter 11: You hungry or are you just high?
After Ethan bought me my earned gummy worms we were going back to my place to hang out. On our way there we passed by the community park.
"Stop the car! Stop the car!" He brutally stopped in the middle of the road and rolled my eyes. "Now pull over and stuff..."
"Why do you want to-" before Ethan could finish his sentence I dashed out of the car and headed for the swings.
Ethan caught up to me later and I ordered him to push me. "Higher! Come on aren't you a football player?! My grandma pushes higher than you do!"
Ethan laughed and mumbled to himself "You're such a kid."
"I heard that! And thank you."
"Hmm?"
"Well most people who remain childish at heart always end up looking great when they're old."
"Where did that verdict come from?"
"Uh I really don't know." We both laughed at my weird verdict.
"Well my grandma used to say that every time you swing you're just a little bit closer to heaven."
I swung in silence, tasting that expression.
"That's beautiful."
He continued to swing me in silence. Usually I hated silence it was just a nuisance when you could talk or make a sound. But this time it was a comfortable silence. The kind of you vast in and cherish. I like this silence. It tasted like the vanilla ice cream we shared.
Vanilla?!
Yeah vanilla silence *sigh dreamily*
"Hey now it's your turn to push me" Ethan said stopping the swings. I groaned in protest but still got up and went behind the swing seat. I pushed Ethan or at lease I tried but his feet hardly lifted of the ground. I tried again and again and again. All you could here was my groaning and whining because I couldn't get him any higher.
"Let's go Rice cakes the angels are waiting for me."
"I'm trying!" I insisted.
"I want to be able to touch an angel's wing." He said in a mocking voice.
"Oh shut up." After another two minutes of struggling I gave up.
Panting heavily I managed to breath out "Let's try the tire swing instead."
He laughed. "Just wait a second."
He then lifted his leg up in a swing motion and started swinging all by himself. I gapped at him.
"How could I have been so stupid? I feel so betrayed and used ugh." I meant it as a barely audible whisper but Ethan obviously heard me because he started laughing, hard.
He jumped off the swing without stopping it and headed of to the tire swings.
"Come on Rice cakes we don't have forever." He said rolling his eyes.
I climbed in and realized that I was way to close to Ethan. I flushed embarrassingly and scooted further away from him. Much to my disappointment-wait what, scratch that I didn't say anything.
Sure you didn't...
He started spinning us like crazy and I found myself grinning widely. Then all of the sudden Ethan stood up on the tire.
"Oh my goodness Ethan get down you could get hurt!" I screeched. He just laughed and let go of the metal railings.
"Look no hands." I covered my eyes with my hands and screamed.
