Once again I've found myself in a situation where I usually wouldn't be in. Before it was jail and now I'm on Ethan's back and there's currently a gun barrel on the side of my head. Some would call it bad luck of misery. I call it down right cruelty. I mean what have I done? I really don't see what I've done to deserve this. Maybe I was born to be a gangster all this time?!

Recap:

I ran as fast as I could.

I found myself running in the street. It was a dark night and I found my breath getting raspier everytime I took a step. I finally had to stop to catch my breath. To my surprise Ethan had followed me out.

"Ethan what are you doing here?"

He walked at the same pace as me right next to me.

"I came to talk to you."

I stiffened. "There isn't anything to talk about." I said almost instantly.

"Isn't there? Because I'm pretty sure you never gave me the chance to finish to even a word in our last conversation." He was showing signs of full irritation.

I sighed in defeat.

"Fine." He smiled at my abandon and I couldn't help but give him a very small smile back.

"Okay Marissa what happened that night was a mistake I, well I'll explain later but I just want to spit this out." He locked eyes with me almost instantly. "Marissa I l--" his phone rang and he growled with anger. "Marissa I..." The shrilling sound of Britney Spears was interrupting everything, especially the mood.

"It's like the universe hates me." I heard Ethan mumble under his breath. I opened up my smile a little and chuckled.

"What?" He asked annoyed into the phone. He was silent while listening to the person on the other line.

"Okay look now isn't a good time--yeah but either way I might not even be where you need me to be and I don't have my car--"

Then I saw something move from my peripheral vision. A shadow I was about to worn Ethan but I looked to see that he had already seen the man.

"Curtis." He said with venom in his voice.

"That's no way to great your boss Roberts." He smirked. For some reason his voice was unusually low.

He stepped out of the darkness and I could see a hint of stubble on his beard. Stubble, I can guarantee, that wasn't there when I first met him.

"Is it just me or does he seem older then before?" I whispered to Ethan, but obviously "Curtis" heard it because he laughed.

"Come on Roberts one more fight and it'll be over."

"No." Ethan said firmly. I wasn't the only one taken aback by his brutal response because Curis seemed pretty shocked too.

"Look I don't have time for games kid. Tonight is the most important night and you're gonna do what I say."

Ethan smirked. "I don't think so because someone realit important once told me that maybe I've been "hanging out with the wrong people. And now I'm going to start filtering!"

If I wasn't a bit terrified I would've clapped and cheered on Ethan for standing up for himself. Ethan turned to me and smiled a smile of victory.

"Come on let's go."

Then I heard a strange sound and before I knew it a metal barrel was placed at the side of my head. The man laughed.

"Ha! I don't think so." He stated circling me but he still kept the barrel firmly on the front lobe of my brain. On shot and I would be knocked out dead.
