I had heard several rumours over the weeks.

It had literally all started with Annabelle Lavensky. She was the quietest girl in school and she spent most of her time finding the weirdest places to read books.

Especially dark corners (which I really didn't get I mean who do you see what you're reading?!). She then suddenly came in to me and my friends' table at lunch and said she'd seen Ethan in town.

"I-I s-swear I did see him y-yeah he was ordering a large drink..." Annabelle spoke this in such a quiet manner that I wasn't sure I was hearing her right; well that and the fact that it would be impossible for Ethan to be back in town.

A large drink did sound like something, he would get...but then again that something any average guy would get so it didn't really make him special.

"Ethan isn't special." I whispered to myself as a reminder. That's how I had been getting over him. In fact I think the whole no it was going well...I guess.

"Um why are you telling me this?" I answered.

I realized that it sounded kind of rude as soon as I saw Annabelle flush to the shade of a ripe tomato. "Sorry I mean, we aren't friends anymore...that's why." Well friends is an understatement to what our relationship was.

It had been a good five months since we had stopped talking. It's not that we didn't like each other but it just happened. Over the summer I found myself wanting more to hang out with Tracie and Kelly and other friends (okay I don't really have other friends or whatever...).

All summer we've started a project to earn easy cash so that by the end of our senior year we'd have enough money to take a trip to a Mexican resort.

We were pretty close to attaining our goal, we've done things from yard sales to babysitting gigs.

Tracie even suggested that we each sell one of our kidneys on eBay but for some reason that idea wasn't very settling. It was amazing to see what was being sold on eBay. The world has come to a scary era.

Annabelle finally composed herself : "Well I don't know I'm known to be quiet which means that I've had my fair share of time to observe people." She blushed again as I gave her an incredulous look. "And you guys were a close and cute couple. Probably one of the cutest I've ever seen. Almost as good as Romione or even Percabeth." She squeezed in that last part in a really low voice.

I didn't what she was talking about so I just thanked but broke the news to her. "Ethan moved and I doubt he came back, he would have no reason to come back, honestly..."

"But there's you-" I cut her off before she could continue.

"Look even if he was in town, which frankly is unrealistic, he was probably just there for the day so thanks but no thanks." She soon left and Kelly soon went running after her.

Tracie just stared at me gaping. "What?!" I asked her defensively.

She gave me a glare. "Well that was kind of jerky."

She stated simply. "Like it was mean and that's coming from me you know."

I couldn't come up with a nice reply to that. The best thing I had at the moment was "shut up" but I didn't want to anger her more.

Tracie took my silence as an opportunity to continue : "It most likely took a lot of courage for her to come up and talk to you. You didn't have to be so rude."

I held to urge to roll my eyes. "She's been rude every since she's been hanging out with Phil but I think she's being exceptionally mean today because she doesn't like it when people mention the one guy who's actually good for her." Kelly had at last returned at was backing up Tracie. Oh great.
