Lia
"So, you just avoid sleep now?" Bucky rolled his eyes at her comment, popping another mcdonalds fry in his mouth.
"Well I tried sleeping but someone didn't like it."
"No one said I didn't! Your screaming was just stupidly loud." She was fully joking and she really hoped he knew she meant it as a joke. Things with Bucky always made her sort of feel like she was on some kind of egg shells, she never wanted to upset him. Yet, she never felt safer or more herself.
"Yeah well your fucking was excessively loud." Lia coughed as she choked on the chicken nugget she was eating, the shock of his words going straight through her.
"James Buchanan!" He smirked at her use of his name, hearing the words fall from her lips made his stomach churn but in the best way possible.
"Lia!" He shouted before realisation hit. "Wait, do you even have a middle name?" Lia smirked back at him, a menacing look on her face.
"I might. Maybe you'll have to convince me to tell you." The playful smile on her face said it all, she was just taunting him so that he'd play her game.
Instead, Bucky stood up and wondered into her bedroom.
"Barnes, what the fuck are you doing?" She scrambled to catch up with him but those extra three inches he had on her really made a difference.
Bucky didn't reply, she only heard the rummaging of whatever he was doing. Part of her wanted to disturb him while the other part wanted to see exactly what he was up and she would never see that if she interrupted him. While she was having the eternal debate with herself Bucky reappeared waving her passport at her.
Fuck sake.
"Lia Scarlett Jones." She huffed, rolling her eyes at the smug super soldier.
"I sound like a stripper."
"I dated a girl called Scarlett, in the 30's I think." His eyes lit up as he remembered and that was when she realised, he still didn't have all his memories back. "She had bright red hair and green eyes, lots of freckles. We went to the park on our first date, I pushed her on the swing for so long my arms hurt. Then I walked her home and she kissed my cheek, first kiss a dame ever gave me."
Lia couldn't help but smile as Bucky explained the story, it was obvious that he missed that time period and it meant a lot to him to remember.
"Now, she doesn't sound like a stripper. Maybe I like the name now." Bucky smiled softly at her, making his way over to her and kissing her forehead before holding her. Lia instantly relaxed into his touch, her head nestling into the crook of his neck.
The pair of them sighed contently, just happy to have someone to support them. Who knew the screaming neighbour could mean so much in so little time?
