Ch 3. Old Regrets Follow You Into Your Dreams

Izuku made his way to the beach, it was a day after he had finished clearing it and he was finally going to receive One For All. However he felt distinctly guilty for having lied so much to the man, so he had made the decision to tell them. If they still gave him the Quirk afterwards, then he would accept it...but otherwise he'd just leave and enter the Hero course himself on his own merits.

"All Might, I need to confess something." Izuku stated as he approached the man." I haven't been entirely truthful the past ten months, however you deserve the truth more then you could ever know right now."

All Might blinked, giving him a curious expression.

"Is something wrong, my boy?" The blonde Hero asked, making Izuku nearly choke on air as he felt his heart clench painfully in his chest.

It shouldn't hurt so much hearing that fond tone inside his former enemy, logically he should hate the man. However that was furthest from the truth, he cared for the blonde Hero and saw them much the same way he saw his little brother. They were a shining light that he couldn't bare to see fade, yet he was afraid that it might end up being inevitable.

With fists clenched tightly to his side, he revealed his truth.

"I'm not the son of All For One, All Might, I am All For One." Izuku confessed, before rushing to explain." I got de-aged after our battle, took up a different name and life. I hadn't planned on getting swept up in Heroes again, let alone on the opposite side then I have always been on...but, you saved me. I know you didn't know who I was, but you saved me and it..."

Izuku couldn't finish explaining, glaring at the ground as if accusing it for his inability to speak all of a sudden.

He could feel the blue eyes of the Hero before him staring, waiting for him to finish talking and he wanted to scream. Why was this all so hard, why had he gotten attached to this blonde idiot who had killed him only six, almost seven years ago.

"I'm not emotionless as most people believe, for so long I've wanted to escape my life as a Villain without the Underground collapsing around me." Izuku admitted still refusing to meet the man's gaze." I care about you ok, that's what I am trying to say...you've become like a brother to me these past months, I don't even care about One For All...I just want you not to hate me. I am sorry."

Finally he was finished, so he lifted his head expecting to see rage and hatred for lying to them about his identity.

However to his surprise, they just smiled warmly and looked faintly amused. He blinked in confusion, not understanding why they were looking at him like that. He had just admitted to being All For One, didn't that terrify or enrage the man?

"Midoriya, I've know you were All For One since you "erased" the slime Villain's Quirk." All Might admitted, making Izuku's jaw drop." I was testing you, when I saw you rush to rescue that blonde explosive kid that you didn't even know, it inspired me. I couldn't call myself a Pro Hero if I wasn't willing to try and save everyone, including the Villains."

"What was the test?" Izuku asked hesitantly, not sure of how to feel about all of this.

"You could have just accepted One For All, never revealing the truth." All Might said with a shrug." If you had, then I would have changed my mind about giving it too you...but the fact you wanted to tell me the truth before you gained the power, makes me think I can trust you with your brother's legacy."

Izuku was so shocked, he just stared with his mouth slightly agape as he tried to process what he was hearing. They were still giving him the Quirk, even after revealing the truth to them. It had been a test, he had passed even when he hadn't known it was even a test.
