“Josh what am I supposed to wear?” I asked, looking at Josh as he walked through the door of my crappy hotel room. “You don’t have to wear anything fancy. It’s not a formal environment. Jeans and a t-shirt would be completely fine.” He said, sitting down on the edge of the bed. “I don’t even wear jeans and a t-shirt for everyday wear.” “Then don’t wear jeans and a t-shirt.” He shrugged. “You’re no help” I sighed, digging through my suitcase, desperately trying to find something to wear. “It’s casual, Carter. Wear something that you would wear if you went to school without a uniform.” After scattering my clothes everywhere, I decided on a cheetah print blouse, black cardigan, light skinny jeans, and a pair of brown ankle boots I bought when Josh and I were walking around London. (http://www.polyvore.com/you_found_me_chapter/set?id=73412399) “Didn’t I say it wasn’t a formal environment?” Josh asked, raising an eyebrow at me. “Who said this was a formal outfit? You obviously don’t know what formal really means, Josh.” I laughed, walking over to my suitcase and throwing all the clothes back in. “C’mon, let’s go. Don’t want to be late on your first day, do you?” Josh said, pulling me up from the floor. “It depends on what the job is. Why won’t you tell me?” I whined, standing straight up and brushing my clothes off. “You’re almost as tall as me in those shoes. How do girls walk in those things?” Josh laughed, leading me towards the door. “Great way to change the subject, Josh.” I scoffed, shutting the door behind me.
“Here we are” Josh smiled, pulling up to what looked like some sort of studio. “Where are we, Josh?” “The rehearsal studio. You’re going to be an assistant.” “Uh…will I be around the boys a lot…or any other males?” “You don’t have to be if you don’t want to be. You’re going to be Caroline’s assistant, helping her with outfits and such. You don’t have to be around the boys very often.” “O-okay.” I stuttered, panic quickly setting in. “C’mon, you need to go meet her!” he smiled, hopping out of the car. Oh boy…this should be great. I sighed, climbing out of the car and quickly catching up with Josh.
“Hey Caroline! This is Carter, the girl I was telling you about.” Josh said to the woman standing in front of a clothes rack. “Hello Carter!” Caroline greeted. “Hello” I shyly waved. “I love your outfit! It’s a good thing you have a great fashion sense, eh?” she smiled. “Yeah, I guess.” I replied, nervously laughing. I felt really awkward because I’m not good with meeting new people. I’m fine with females, but I still act really awkward around them. “Well, how about we introduce you to the boys, that way you can kind of know how they act and see how they dress. Liam isn’t here today because he wasn’t feeling well, but we’ll introduce you to him eventually.” Caroline smiled, taking my hand and leading me out of the dressing room. I was told I wasn’t going to have to meet the boys, I would have been fine with seeing them occasionally but not having to speak to them. But this…I don’t think I can handle this.
“Hey boys! This is my new assistant, Carter. Josh introduced me to her.” Caroline called out to the four boys that were lounging on a couch, laughing and talking amongst themselves. I looked to Josh who was behind me and he mouthed a sorry to me as the boys made their way over. “Hello, I’m Harry” the tall, curly haired boy introduced himself, offering a hand to me but I took a step back. “Hi, Harry.” I quietly responded, shyly waving. I looked over at Josh and he noticed I was shaking so he came over and rested a hand on my back, trying to comfort me. “Ey, I’m Niall.” The blonde one chirped in an Irish accent, luckily he didn’t try to shake my hand, and he just simply waved before looking back at his phone. “Hello love, I’m Louis.” The brunette with feathered hair chirped, politely waving then walking over to Harry. “I’m Zayn” the boy with olive skin and dark hair introduced himself, slightly nodding before taking a few steps back. “Well, I’m going to go with the boys and start rehearsals, text me if you need anything, okay Carter?” “Okay, Josh.” I nodded, turning around to follow Caroline back to the dressing room. “Okay, love. Which outfit do you like better for Louis, the left one or the right one?” Caroline asked, holding up two different outfits. Both looking quite casual for a concert but I didn’t want to say that. “Hmm, the left one.” I nodded, content with my choice. “Oh good, that’s the one I liked better, I just needed some confirmation.” She chirped, hanging the outfit we chose on a separate clothing rack. That’s basically all we did for the rest of the day besides talking and getting to know each other. Right before I was about to go find Josh, all of the boys piled into the room, whooping and hollering. I started shaking and backed away; trying to act like I was looking through the clothes rack but I felt a hand on my shoulder. I gasped, quickly jerking my shoulder away, taking a few steps back. “Whoa, I’m sorry, love.” Louis put his hands up in defense, “I was just going to ask you how your first day went. I didn’t mean to scare you or anything.” He quickly explained, looking confused as to why I reacted the way I did. “It’s okay…Uh, my first day? It-uh, it was great. I really li-liked it.” I stuttered, looking down and shuffling my feet. “Well, that’s good. I’ll see you later, Carter.” He smiled, walking away. I don’t think I’ll be able to do this. I took in a shaky breath, and grabbed my purse, quickly walking out to find Josh.
