“Hey Carter! Hey- Holy shit.” Josh went wide eyed as he saw Liam standing next to me, causing Liam and I to exchange nervous glances. “H-hi Josh,” I stuttered, looking up at him. I’m somewhat scared of how he will react. Will he be happy that I’m staying with one of his trusted friends? Will he be pissed off that I didn’t tell him immediately about getting kicked out of the hotel? I felt Liam’s hand rest on my shoulder as I looked down at the ground. If I was actually thinking straight, I would have shied away from his touch, but since this is a little nerve racking, I just let him keep it there. Honestly, it was comforting, and it felt like electricity was running through his hand as it touched my shoulder. “Carter, you never told me that you met Liam.” Josh said, cocking his head to the side a little bit as he looked at Liam with a confused expression. “Uh, we just met today. It slipped my mind while I was on the phone with you.” “Oh, uh alright. Come on in.” he motioned for us to enter the flat as the confused look remained plastered on his face.
“Jade!” I squealed, running over and jumping on top of her. “Hello Carter” she laughed and pushed me off of her. “Wait, are you here with Liam from the band Josh plays for?” “Uh, yeah.” I nodded, looking over at Liam and Josh who seemed to be in a heated argument or something. “Well, he’s really cute.” She cheekily winked at me. “I’ve known him for about 8 hours and he has already gotten onto my bad side. I’m only being nice because he is letting me stay in his home.” “Oh whatever, you’ll end up falling in love with him.” “Don’t get your hopes up.” I scoffed and ran a hand through my hair. “Carter. Kitchen. Now.” Josh said through gritted teeth, walking towards the kitchen. Liam waited for me to be by him before he started walking towards the kitchen. “He’s not very happy” Liam whispered just as we were about to enter the kitchen. “You don’t say?” I sarcastically shot back, turning to face Josh.
“May I help you?” I asked, staring at Josh who’s jaw kept clenching and anger was apparent in his features. “Why didn’t you tell me that you got kicked out of the hotel?” “Because, I said I would live on the streets if I had to. So, what did I do? I lived on the streets for a week. Your great friend here found me and was a dear to invite me, a complete stranger, to stay in his home.” I smiled, I was kind of amused by his reaction. He doesn’t like the fact that I actually had to do something on my own without anyone’s help. But, I would think that me staying with Liam would put him at ease seeing how Liam is probably going to be taking care of me. “Carter, you should have told me. I would have helped you.” “I didn’t want your help, don’t you understand that? I wanted to do this on my own. Sure, now that I’m staying with Liam I won’t be doing it on my own, but that doesn’t really matter anymore. Your wonderful friend took me in because I had nowhere to stay so you should just be happy that I’m not on the streets anymore.” “I’m glad that Liam found you, but what if he didn’t? Do you know how dangerous it is to live on the streets?” he shouted, taking a step towards me. “Be happy that I’m not on the streets anymore!” I shouted back. “Carter, I am happy but what if you were?” “Well, I’m not! If this is all we’re going to do then I am leaving.” I scoffed and stormed out of the kitchen, going to grab my bag off of the couch. “Carter what’s wrong?” “Nothing, I’ll talk to you later, Jade.” I said before stomping out the front door.
“Carter, wait!” Liam called out after me as I walked down the steps. Before I turned around to face him, tears started streaming down my face. I’m not quite sure why I was crying, I wasn’t sad or anything. I think it was just a breakdown because of all the stress. I tried looking up at Liam but I couldn’t see him because my tears were clouding my vision. I sank to my knees and Liam’s arms were secured around me shortly after. I felt safe in his arms, his touch was comforting. “Thank you, Liam.” I choked out and rested my head on his shoulder. “For what?” “For everything you have done today. You’ve been so sweet, you’re letting me stay in your home even though you don’t even know me, you’re comforting me, and you’re still being extremely sweet even after experiencing my many mood swings and hostility towards you.” Liam just lightly laughed and rested his head against mine. “Would you like to go home? We might get some odd looks for just sitting on the ground.” “Yes, please.” I weakly nodded, taking his hand as he helped me up. “Can I take you on a date?” Liam asked, looking down at me as I climbed into his car. What? Why does he want to take me on a date? Don’t people only ask people they actually know on dates? “When?” “Friday night, I have rehearsals for the rest of the week so it can’t be any sooner.” “Uh, sure.” I nodded. He grinned and shut my door, quickly walking over to the driver’s side. “Thank you, Carter.” I was going to ask why he was thanking me but I decided not to because I really wasn’t that interested at the moment. He was probably thanking me for giving him a chance.
