As soon as the teacher dismissed them, Mepuru and Kagayaku headed straight outside in the sun, and sat down underneath the tree, like they always do. Unpacking their bags, they began to talk while eating their packed lunches. "Well, Kagayaku, I never knew you had a thing for goddesses." The SandWing laughed, munching on her cheese sandwich. "Mepuru, I think I've seen Makoto before." The hybrid replied, nibbling on her sandwich while staring at the grass underneath her talons. "Really?" Her best friend giggled, shoving the rest of the snack into her snout. "Or are you insane?" Kagayaku shook her head, not eating altogether. "I'm sure I saw her, she had the horns, the markings. Heck, she even said her name was Makoto!" She looked up at her friend, before starting to eat her food.
"It might've been one of your weird dreams again." The fox coloured dragon shrugged, getting started on her 3rd piece of sandwich. To put it simply, Mepuru has always been a really fast eater, even when she's in a conversation. Kaga shook her head, determined to get her friend to believe her. "No, I had just woken up from a dream." She spread her wings as far as they would go.
"Maybe it was one of those weird dream in a dream things?"
"No. Mepuru- ugh. You don't get it." Kagayaku talon-palmed while eating her snack. Mepuru sat there in silence for a while, chewing away on some grapes. "Well, how on Pyrrhia could you have seen a deity? Let alone Makoto..." She said after a while, looking at Kagayaku as if her horns had suddenly fell off and disintegrated. The hybrid was left in silence. What if my mind had just gone crazy? She thought, tucking her wings back in. "Never mind. I think you're right- I must just be crazy."
The two chatted for a while, talking about how annoying Aella is and complaining about how boring and useless maths is. After a while, the bell rang, indicating the end of lunchtime, and the start of boring class time. "What do we have next?" Kagayaku asked Mepuru while they were nearing their classroom. "Uhhh, art... I think." She replied, definitely sounding unsure. Art was one of the many subjects that Kagayaku actually enjoyed, considering most of the time it was all "draw whatever the heck you want", which she considered to be the least boredom inducing.
And so, they entered the classroom, and went straight to their designated seats. Lucky for them, it was one of those free drawing art sessions. Kagayaku was a pretty good artist, she found drawing quite fun in her spare time, unlike Mepuru, who absolutely sucked at it. The teacher had handed out 1 piece of paper per student, as well as a couple of coloured pencils. "Draw whatever you want, as long as it is appropriate." She announced as soon as she got back to her desk. The two friends took no time- they had immediately started to doodle as soon as they were allowed to. "I'm gonna draw a forest." The SandWing said, smiling as she started scribbling on her paper with browns and greens. "That's nice." Kagayaku laughed, getting started on her work as well.
Occasionally, Mepuru would try and peer over her shoulder and see what she was drawing, but Kaga hid it well. She didn't want her friend seeing until it was done. "Haha!" Mepuru suddenly laughed. "Take a look at this!" She said, and handed over her drawing to her hybrid friend. She took in every detail of the drawing, before handing it back. "Wow. It's absolutely trash." The hybrid laughed. "Hey!" Hissed Mepuru, sticking out her black tongue. "Let's see yours!" She suddenly grabbed Kagayaku's drawing and began looking at it. "Hey! It's not done!" Growled Kaga, trying to get the artwork back.
It was a drawing of a coloured Makoto sitting down in what looked like a sketchy forest, growing a coloured plant from the ground. "Oh my, that's actually really good." Her friend said, handing it back. Kagayaku puffed up her cheeks in anger before turning back to her drawing, this caused Mepuru to laugh. Time passed, the teacher had praised the hybrid for her work and told the SandWing that she could do better, and soon enough, it was time to go home. Because it was a wednesday, instead of going straight home, Kagayaku would go to the cafe and get the slushy she'd always buy.
As she pushed open the door, she was greeted by the cashier that was always on at this time. "Kagayaku! Hello!" The SandWing-SkyWing hybrid trilled, waving Kaga over to the counter. She rushed over, a big grin plastered on her face. "I assume it's the same as always?" The cashier asked, cocking her head. Kagayaku nodded and placed the money on the counter. She took it and gave her some change back, before going off to the machine. A couple of minutes later, she came back with the slushy in hand. She handed it to the IceWing-SandWing hybrid, who took it happily and immediately starting drinking from it. "Now, I'd like to tell you something." The cashier said suddenly, leaning over the countertop with a serious face on. "What is it?" Kagayaku asked, getting curious.
"I'd like to tell you about the weird things happening lately in the forests at night."
