meaningful conversations
"hey," you say as you walk out of the apartment building, your hands buried into the holes of your hoodie as you approach chris."hi riley," chan answers back, a smile on his face.
he's wearing a beanie, a black hoodie, and a t-shirt underneath. he's also wearing some black joggers and all black shoes.
you're pretty much matching right now since you are wearing the same thing, except you're not wearing a t-shirt underneath, but a long-sleeved shirt to keep you warm.
"any plans or?" chan asks you, and you shake your head.
"i actually just wanted to get outside because i'm having an art block."
he nods and motions for you to follow him, "let's walk and see where we end up."
you smile and follow him, now walking next to chan as he moves into a random direction, letting fate take you and him somewhere random.
it's silent between the two of you, but it's not an awkward one. you and him are thinking about many things, chan about things he might want to ask or say, and you're just thinking about the fact you're here in south-korea with friends and with someone you might like even more than just friends.
but you can't.
there's no way you can actually like chris more than friends, as he has someone waiting for him, someone being connected to him.
you sigh and put your hands in the pocket of your hoodie, your lips a little pouty.
chris turns his head to yours, curiosity shown on his face. "are you alright? what are you thinking about?"
your cheeks turn red as you think about the answer you should give, but won't ever speak out loud.
"oh," you start, then pouting your lips in thought. "just... i'm just happy that my time here has been good, you know? with the people i've met. it's been a few months, but it couldn't be more perfect," you explain, then looking up to the stars. "although there's one thing that could make it more perfect, but that thing won't ever happen so i shouldn't be too sad about that."
"is it the soulmate thing?" chan asks, his face soft and lips thin as he thinks.
"exactly," you say with a sigh.
"i'm curious now," chan starts, his hands buried in the pockets of his hoodie as he looks into the distance. "and tell me if i'm going too far or overstepping any boundaries, but... how did you realize that you were soulmate-less?"
"everyone around me had tattoos and connections. it was actually pretty logic at first, since my parents have tattoos and all that but... no, there was no tattoo that ever appeared on my body," you say, a sad feeling taking over your body.
