Arms and hands pressed against the glass of a store window, a girl stares in absolute adoration at the stack of monitors on the other side. Toga, in disguise as a high school student, watches as clips of heroes in combat take over the screens. The news has been buzzing lately about the recent team-up missions. Especially ones that involve U.A.'s up and coming second year students.
As more people join the League, the downstairs lobby TV is never available. Not only that, but public spaces that are safe for her to roam are becoming limited. So, to solve that problem, Toga had to improvise. For the past two weeks, she has been pulling aside unsuspecting teens and collecting their blood to leave APA Hotel. Even in mission-related situations, she will disappear into the crowd as soon as possible.
Deku appears on screen, "Detroit Smash!"
Swooning, 'I love him.'
The camera cuts to Uravity, "Release!"
'I love her.'
Her cheeks grow a light shade of pink.
While the heroes are directed by their Team-Up mentor to step off the scene, reporters flood their path passed the police barricade. They plead for a brief interview. Fans shout and snap photos left and right.
'I need them both.'
A seated news anchor appears on screen, dropping a few witty lines before announcing that it is time for commercial. Toga straightens her posture, a big grin curling her lips. She hugs herself, index and middle fingers tapping the sides of her arms without rhythm.
'We'll get to see each other soon, Izuku. You, Ochako and I will be so close. I wanna feel your warmth- ah! I'm getting giddy just thinking about it!'
Clouds roll over the afternoon sun. The crosswalk light turns green. Traffic, both vehicles and pedestrians, stays fluid. Arms dropping, she turns to head back to the mission location.
A Nomu was planted just outside of city limits, serving as a distraction that would have heroes flocking toward the disturbance. To pull something like this off in broad daylight is challenging, but with enough enforcement gone, the workload will be easier on Shigaraki, Twice, and Dabi. Toga's job is simple: collect the blood of heroes that are weakened by the Nomu. Shigaraki gave her a few names to consider bigger targets. All Might and Erasurehead will always be on the top of that list, but the more attainable option in this circumstance is Miruko.
Turning to skip down an alley, the skin of her disguise melts away. Her hair lays on her shoulders in choppy layers. Stolen cosmetics such as concealer, liner, and mascara are thickly applied. Fingernails short, some ends chipped, as well as her palms are dry and rough to touch. Calf-high socks hide most of the bruising on her legs from previous missions. Beige cardigan conceals two knives strapped to her hips.
Exiting the alley, the sun peeks through the clouds. She softly hums to herself, casually passing more store fronts, other establishments and the metro entrance. Glancing across the street, she notices the grey van they drove in with is still parked on the corner. Seated in the driver's seat is Spinner. He appears to be fiddling with the radio, giving Toga a sense that the mission is still running smoothly when without warning, windows from the second floor of a Law Firm shatters. Glass shards rain down, the headless body of the Nomu splatting on the cement. Lifting her arms to cover her head and squeezing her eyes shut, shr steps back and stumbles over the curb. Traffic comes to a screeching halt. Shrieks and screams from civilians pierce the air.
Toga drops, landing on her tail bone at the edge of the street. Panic arises rapidly around her. There at the edge of the window is Miruko, sweat trickling from her brow. The hero's chest rises and falls, lips barely parted as she expels heavy breaths. Purple fluid, the Nomu's blood, stains only her legs.
