Mark was nervous. He had been staring at the digital clock since early afternoon. Time seemed painfully slow to him. His concentration was average and Simon had already emitted several sighs of irritation. Nelly pressed hard on the keys of her keyboard, emitting a distorting sound that stopped the band's music. She stared at Marc for a long moment. The latter returned his gaze before lowering his head with a sigh.
— Sorry, guys.
Jordan smiled softly.
— We concentrate, Marc. We are here for the music. We play in four days, that leaves us little time.
Marc ran a hand through his hair.
— Yeah, sorry.
Henri played a few bass lines.
— Think of the friends who had to put their leave to be ready. I don't want to mess up! because it's so much less time with my wife and my kid.
Marc sagged his shoulders in shame. He couldn't concentrate because of Gavin's message. He had seen it on his way home from the studio at two o'clock in the morning. His first impulse was to take his helmet and want to join his motorcycle to go to the young man's... before remembering that he did not have his address. He had then wanted to reply to the message but he had searched for several minutes, typed several messages that he had never sent. He had lain awake, mind and body on fire. Gavin was driving him crazy! never had he been like this. He wasn't a basic bastard. He always loved and respected his partners. He no longer knew how he felt about Amy. She had been his girlfriend for a long time, it was serious. Could he brush it off for an irresistible desire? He knew he would. Gavin was burning him. His aggressive kisses, his hard body against his...it was all about feeling. Gavin kindled desire just by breathing next to him. Simon put a hand on Marc's shoulder, jerking him out of his thoughts.
— You need to get some air. We are here, you know. I don't know what's happening to you, but we're here.
Marc smiled at her.
— No it's OK. It's up to me to compartmentalize. Come on, let's start from the beginning.
Jordan restarted the recording so that he could listen afterwards and make the necessary changes.
Three hours later, they finished their playlist for the fifth time. Amy had snuck out half an hour earlier and sat on one of the ottomans after waving to the group. When the door opened on Winnie and Gavin. Marc's heart skipped a beat and the last note cracked slightly. Jordan compensated with a louder drumbeat and Marc gave him a look of thanks. He moved on to the last song, the very one Gavin had masturbated to. Gavin's heart skipped a beat and he felt himself blushing as he stared intently at Marc. He didn't look at him, too busy mastering his voice. Right at the end, he couldn't help but glance at Gavin between his eyelashes. Gavin gulped but hurriedly clapped like Winnie and Amy. The break was declared. The room was stuffy from the heat of the computers and the energy expended. Fresh water was shared.
After the greetings and the exchange of news, everyone wanted to talk at the same time. Amy had slipped under Marc's arm, as usual, but he felt bad as she laughed with Simon. Winnie, more independent, had started a discussion with Nelly on hair coloring techniques while Jordan and Henri tried to train Gavin in a showdown between two football teams. Marc was the only silent one. Gavin was not paying attention to him at all when he had lit him like a torch with his message the day before. Was he kidding him? He was about to make a move to talk to him when Gavin pulled out his ringing phone. He left the room apologetically to answer. Marc followed him, his jaw clenched. Amy caught his attention and quietly asked him what was going on, if everything was okay. Marc smiles at his girlfriend
