The situation was strange... bizarre even. Marc had gone home to take a relaxing shower and had dressed appropriately. His wardrobe was much more classy since his debut as much by fan gifts as by clothing brands. He'd styled his hair, added some jewelry and some perfume, and knocked on Amy's. She too had made toilet efforts and had gone to the hairdresser. He smiles at her. She tried to answer him with a smile but her face fell and she began to cry. Completely lost, Marc looked at her for a moment before gently pushing her back inside the apartment, towards the young woman's living room. They sat down on the plush sofa, facing each other, hand in hand.
— What's going on Amy? Why are you crying ?
She looked at him and burst into tears more strongly in front of him. Mark didn't know what to do. He didn't dare touch her. He looked for a packet of tissues, which he found under the coffee table and passed her the Kleenex one by one until she calmed down. When she was only sniffling, he looked at her. Her makeup had run down her cheeks and her hair was all messed up. He reached out to push some locks back from her, but she pulled away.
— Do not touch me. You have no right to touch me.
Marc retracted his hand. She continued.
— I didn't want to believe it completely, you know. I told myself that there were logical and silly explanations for all this. That YOU couldn't be that kind of guy...
— Amy...
She jumped up and threw the Kleenex at him, crumpling it between her fingers.
— You kissed him! I saw you ! and don't tell me you fell on his mouth by accident!
Marc got up in turn. Amy continued. Her voice rose higher and higher.
— How long have you been cheating on me? No... let me guess! Your whole life is spread out on twitter! If I believe some of them it was before Christmas. For others it was New Years... In fact, I don't care how long it's been going on! You deceived me!
— Honey, I...
— Go ahead, what is your excuse Marc?
He looked at her, sheepish. He had no excuse to offer her. She shivered and wiped her eyes with her hands.
— If you apologize and swear you won't do it again...
Marc pursed his lips. He could tell her but it wouldn't be the truth.
— I can't.
— So....
The young woman's voice cracked.
— If I had not discovered anything you would have continued? You are... You are despicable! cruel ! self-centered ! hypocrite... you really made fun of me! What am I? a stopper? a doll ? a... an excuse, a goddamn excuse!
Amy fell silent, panting. She stared at him as if seeing him for the first time and what she saw did not please her.
— Aren't you going to say anything to defend yourself? to keep me? to apologize a little? Mark... it's not you. You... you're supposed to be a good guy!
Marc smiled at her and took her hand. He brought it to his lips while looking at her. He pulled away while keeping Amy's hand between his.
— You are a wonderful woman Amy. Strong and smart with a wonderful heart. I wanted to tell you... I wanted to... but it was going to hurt us.
— Because it does not hurt right now, perhaps? I honestly didn't think you could do that.
Marc lowered his head.
— Neither do I. I am sorry.
— Are you sincere?
He looked into Amy's eyes.
