Marc and Peter met as planned on Wednesday. Marc asked for a time of reflection until after the end of year celebrations, which Peter accepted. The group had received several serious proposals via the official mailbox, not to mention meeting or interview requests. The group agreed to wait until January before processing all these requests. Everyone wanted to take the time to reflect. Then Christmas arrived, taking everyone on a waltz of family meals and gift giving. They received a few packages from fans, delivered directly to the studio.
Marc spent Christmas with Amy in her family. He knew them well but the fact that they insisted heavily on the idea of marriage or descent made him, once again, uneasy. Amy had her career and it wasn't on the agenda to have a child or plan a wedding. In this, Marc was relieved. The excuse that his career was finally taking off was a valid one. He did not want to sacrifice his hypothetical family life in the face of his musical career. The next day he went alone to his mother. She and Amy didn't really get along and that was better than playing the game of hypocrisy. It was a tacit agreement between the singer and Amy. That way, they could enjoy their family in a different way than if they went together. Then finding himself spoiled by his mother and his sister was not to displease Marc who appreciated falling back into childhood from time to time. His mother had the art and the way of not talking about what bothered her while making it clear in a roundabout way what exactly bothered her. Without her first name being pronounced, Amy took it for her rank. Marc defended her weakly this year, which made his mother smile. The singer also took the opportunity to bicker with his sister throughout the meal, under the falsely desperate gaze of their father. In summary, a very good Christmas for Marc.
Gavin, meanwhile, had a lonely Christmas. As it was planned that he would spend Christmas with Winnie's family, who did not live in the region, his parents took the opportunity to leave for a week. He took the opportunity to refresh his driving skills and complete the articles on the festival. He fed his blog and worked on the communication of the Red Pandas. Winnie dropped him off her Christmas present but, even if he invited her to come in out of politeness, she only stayed about ten minutes, conversation proving impossible for the moment. There was no exchange between Marc and Gavin in a private way, only on the common chat with the group. It was a tacit agreement and had been since the day after the concert. It was Marc's way of making amends to Amy. Gavin accepted it even though it was painful. There was nothing between them but an all-consuming attraction so he couldn't claim any title. He wasn't sure he wanted it anyway. Besides, He didn't feel chained like the lover hidden in the closet. He didn't think about it more than that, not really. Moreover, Gavin did not dwell on the fact that the "Merry Christmas" he received on December 25 from Marc made him particularly happy. That of the other members of the group too, obviously on the other hand he was confused by that of Amy. It's not that he didn't like the young woman, but he didn't find it particularly right to befriend her while almost sleeping with her boyfriend.
For the New Year, Peter invited them all, spouse and children included, to his vacation home on the edge of a lake about a hundred kilometres from the city. It was not a tourist place but not an isolated place either. It was a holiday resort for the majority of wealthy people. The nearby small town was vibrant and lakeside properties were popular. The three days and two nights they all spent were both family and professional. Indeed, if New Year's Day was a day of celebration simply between them, on the second day, Peter's contacts, those he had discreetly referred, saw the new proteges of the latter. Several business cards were exchanged and promises of helping out when the time came, all informally. As Peter pointed out to them, these weren't promises carved in marble at all, but they were still worth something more than wind. At the end of the stay, the bands signed with Peter and placed their career hopes in his hands.
First, Marc was quite surprised by the invitation. Anxious too when he realized that Gavin would be there. Finally anxious was not the right word. He was both impatient to see him again, to be able to touch him again but stressed in relation to Amy who was delighted with this invitation. She kept saying that Peter was a real gentleman and that she had always dreamed of spending a weekend at a villa. Marc bowed and Amy was delighted.
