The first thing they did was to call Christophe Célestin who arrived about ten minutes later in an unmarked car. They greeted each other. Gavin got right into the subject.
— Do you think it's her?
The man closed his collar because the night had cooled the air. He turned on a flashlight to examine the scratches. It wasn't a simple scratch along the body, but the paint had been scratched off like a school notebook. Without answering, the man walked around the car and also looked at the other vehicles around. None were damaged. Christophe extinguished his lamp.
— It could be her as it could be that it is only delinquency. The neighborhood is mainly residential and young people get bored quickly. Something happened since the last time?
The two men looked at each other.
— It's been two weeks since Gavin received any other letters or gifts.
Gavin's eyes widened.
— We moved. I no longer live here. I was doing one last lap before returning the keys.
Christophe Célestin frowned and took some pictures of the car.
— That could be the cause of this violence. Your new home...
Marc completed the sentence.
— ...has an underground car park under surveillance with a badge.
Gavin added.
— We moved to another neighborhood, more central, near the park.
Christophe held out his hand to them.
— Be attentive and careful in the days to come. If the erotomaniac loses confidence, she may turn on you aggressively.
Once they got to their apartment, Marc waved.
— Stay safe ?! that's all he can say! you are in danger, and it is up to us to protect you? He's the police!
Gavin sighed as he put away his jacket and kicked off his shoes.
— You get angry all alone, sweetheart. The inspector can't do anything since we don't know who this person is.
— But that's what he's paid for!
Gavin crossed the living room to take Marc's wrists. He smiles at him.
— Marc, calm down. Nothing will happen to me. Give the police time to do their job. It is difficult since it is a person with no history with the police. They have to study each profile of each person.
Gavin stroked his face.
— Concentrate on your work, okay? Tomorrow's schedule is busy.
Marc covered the hand over his face with his own and squeezed it. He looked into his eyes, his own filled with anguish.
— I don't want anything to happen to you. And if...
Gavin rested his forehead against Marc's.
— Nothing at all. We are home safe. I am safe because you are with me, and I trust you.
Gavin kissed him softly then pushed him away when he felt Marc's eager hands around his waist.
— I'm going to cook something quick for dinner. Go take a shower. It's late.
Marc watched him evolve in their new apartment. It was strange, it had only been a few days but both were at ease, as if this place had been made for them. The thick curtains of the windows were drawn and the orange light of the spotlights shone here and there. The atmosphere was cozy. The singer approached stealthily Gavin, who with his back to him, was looking for what to eat in the cupboards. He turned around with a packet of dough in his hand
