They arrived in front of Gavin's building just after 10 pm. The streetlights went out as they pulled into the small parking lot. The night above them was crystal clear and Marc took a few minutes to stare at the stars trying to locate the constellations. He smiled seeing Orion and his belt, remembering a case that had hit the headlines last year. He felt Gavin's warm body lean against him and his hand wrap around his. Marc looked at him.
— Are you tired, baby?
Gavin just nodded. Marc continued.
— Are you still in pain?
— A little...
— I will massage you at home.
They entered the building and Gavin took his mail.
— I left for ten days, look at everything there is!
Without really looking at it, he put it under his arm and went up to his floor. At the entrance to the corridor, a smell of rot awaited them. Marc wrinkled his nose.
— Is there a dead rat or what? it stinks!
The closer they got to the apartment, the stronger the smell. It was when they arrived in front of Gavin's door that they noticed the bag hanging on the handle and full of post-its stuck on the door. Gavin's heart raced.
— What is this mess?
The smell came from the plastic bag that contained a completely moldy sandwich and cake. Marc had a high heart. Gavin took out his keys to open it, Marc held him back.
— Take a picture already, it's too weird...
Gavin complied with trembling hands. Marc took a post-it and read it.
— "Good day, my love, I look forward to seeing you today." »
Gavin took another.
— "You didn't come home. I worry. »
Gavin swallowed his saliva. Seeing him in all his states and being himself more than disturbed, he took the key from his hands and they entered the apartment. The bag of rotten food ends up in a closed trash bag to remove the smell. Gavin looked in fear all around him in his small apartment. Nothing seemed to move. Marc led him to the couch and sat him down.
— I'll get a glass of alcohol. Call the police.
About twenty minutes later, two police inspectors were sat across from Gavin and Marc in the little livingroom. They introduced themselves as Pierre Montgomery and Christophe Célestin. While Montgomery photographed and put each post-it in seal bags, Celestin asked questions. Marc had an arm around Gavin for support. The inspector was very concerned which reassured the singer.
—... And you say it started when?
Gavin shook his head.
— I do not remember the exact date, but I would say about three weeks or a month ago. But at first, I thought it was coincidence. They brought me a lunch or a drink... or a bouquet of flowers or a stuffed animal.
— Is that common in your profession?
Gavin shook his head.
— I am the manager of Marc Sinn and the Red Pandas. Fans want to be noticed by him so be nice to me. I am part of his direct entourage.
Pierre Montgomery smiled.
— There is also the rumour of your affair with Mr. Sinn. Don't look at me like that Christophe, my wife is an "Air Nation"...the name of Marc and Gavin's fanclub.
