minho had sent jisung multiple apologies for not showing up but had yet to get a reply from the younger. he didn't know what to tell him, without having to explain everything. not to mention he'd rather tell him in person than over text.

minho sighed as he once again couldn't find a reason for him to want to go to school. it didn't make sense if jisung wasn't there.

"let's skip."

"school?"

minho blinked at his reply. "of course school."

hyunjin sent him a glare as he dropped his bag on the ground. "you suggest that now?" they were right in front of the school's gates. it was one of the few days they would've been on time.

"i need to take something", minho said honestly and hyunjin only laughed.

"we can have a smoke if you want." he pulled out his cigarettes, about to offer one to minho, but he only shook his head

"it's not enough."

that caught hyunjin's full attention and he furrowed his brows. "what do you mean 'it's not enough'?"

minho let out an exasperated sigh as he ran a hand through his hair. hyunjin managed to get a clear look at his face and noticed how distraught the other seemed.

"i need something stronger."

"did something happen?" hyunjin asked but minho just turned his back to him. he reached out and grabbed his forearm, making minho flinch and shake his hold off.

hyunjin's eyes widened. "minho what happened?"

minho stayed silent but that was enough of an answer for hyunjin.

"was it your dad again?" hyunjin's voice was laced with worry, for good reason. he was the only one who knew about minho's situation and the only reason he knew was because he happened to see his wounds.

even if hyunjin only found out by accident, minho was glad he did. that meant he had at least one person he could turn to almost all the time.

"it doesn't matter."

"of course it does minho", hyunjin cut him off with a frown. minho only rolled  his eyes. he appreciated his empathy but it just wasn't what he needed at the moment.

"no it doesn't. what matters is if you're coming", minho sighed, looking back at hyunjin.

"i don't know if this is a good idea if you're in a bad state of mind", he pointed out but minho wasn't having any of it.

"hyunjin i didn't ask for your opinion. i'm going anyways, i'm just asking if you're coming along or not", minho snapped which made hyunjin go quiet. he didn't mean to be rude to him but he knew the other would understand.

hyunjin slowly nodded, slinging his bag over his shoulder and walking to minho. he'd rather go with him, and make sure he doesn't overdo it, than have minho go by himself.

"where the fuck are you guys? felix is really worried. first it was jisung and now you two?"

"we're fine changbin, we're just skipping."

changbin had called hyunjin during his first break. since they were in the same class, he immediately noticed that hyunjin was missing.

"without telling felix? you know he's been extremely paranoid since that whole thing with jisung. are you sure everything is alright?"

hyunjin gulped as he watched minho hand their dealer money in exchange for a small plastic bag filled with pills.

"yeah, yeah everything's fine, nothing to worry about. see you later, maybe", he said in a rush and ended the call. he hated lying, partly because he was absolutely horrible at it, but he had to do it for minho.

"minho don't you think that's a bit much?" hyunjin asked carefully, not wanting to irritate him.

"maybe for one person. but not for two", minho grinned at him.

hyunjin shook his head, quickly disheveling his hair in the process.

"i'm only here to take care of you minho. i'm not taking them with you", he said but his eyes lingered on the bag dangling between minho's fingers for a bit too long.

"come on. one pill?" minho teased. "if you really don't want to it's fine. i would never force you", he clarified quickly but he'd already managed to break hyunjin. he returned minho's grin and playfully whined.

"fineee. if you insist. but only one", he stated, tauntingly holding up a single finger, making minho giggle in excitement.

maybe he wasn't as extreme as minho but what could he say, hyunjin was an addict too.

one pill soon turned into more and they spent the entire day together, not having felt that great in the longest time.

minho just wanted to forget everything that was on his mind. he pushed the thoughts of jisung and his father into the back of his head, just wanting to enjoy his day with his best friend. they'd spent their time and majority of the night lingering around the streets and going to some of their usual hangout spots.

"we should do this more often", minho laughed as they stumbled down the road, arms wrapped around each other so neither of them would fall.

hyunjin only giggled, finding their whole situation amusing.

"definitely."
