jisung's home was silent apart from the few groans escaping minho's lips every time he adjusted himself in his sleep.

he made sure to check on the other every now and then. he couldn't help but feel disappointed whenever he was met with the same still sleeping minho.

it was around midnight and jisung felt restless. he went into the kitchen and made himself a cup of tea, hoping it would help him sleep. but the thought of sleep was soon forgotten when he heard a quiet voice call out to him.

"... jisung?"

the brunette rushed into the living room, almost spilling his tea in the process. his eyes met with warm chocolate ones and he felt a heavy weight being lifted off his chest.

minho tried to sit up at the sight of the younger but jisung stopped him as he sat down on the other side of the couch. "hey hey, take it easy."

jisung pushed him onto his back so he could comfortably rest against the cushions. "how are you feeling?" he asked as he carefully handed him the glass of water that had been out for hours. minho eagerly drank it but grimaced when he noticed how lukewarm it was.

"can i get some cold water?" he said, handing jisung the glass. jisung rolled his eyes mumbling 'drama queen' but he couldn't hide the smile that was dancing on his lips. he was so relieved minho was finally awake.

jisung came back with a new glass of water and once he set it down, the room fell silent. it was a complete contrast to how loud the thoughts in both their heads were.

"are you back in school?" minho started and jisung nodded. "yeah, since today."

"ah."

the two went quiet once more. they both had so much they wanted to ask the other but they couldn't bring themselves to speak up.

"can you hug me?"

jisung turned to minho, who had his arms slightly open. he noticed how the tips of his ears, that peaked through his purple hair, were dusted a light shade of red.

"won't i hurt you?" jisung asked carefully, pointing at all the injuries minho had.

"it's worth it."

although reluctant about hurting him, jisung couldn't hold himself back as he leaned down and nuzzled into minho. the other wrapped his arms around him as tightly as he could without causing too much pain.

they stayed like that for a while. they'd missed each other so much and they both felt warmth spread through their bodies.

"i missed you so much", minho whispered into jisung's hair, pressing a chaste kiss onto the crown of his head. "i was so scared i'd never get to talk to you again."

jisung nuzzled even further into minho's hold, hoping his action would be enough of an answer. it was. neither of them moved, finding comfort in each other's hold.

minho wanted to ask jisung what had happened with changbin that made him stay home for so long but decided against it. jisung will tell him some other time. today was minho's turn to talk to him.

"the guy today, was my father."

jisung looked up at minho. he rested his chin on the other's chest so he could look at minho.

"your father did this to you?" jisung whispered. he was horrified as to how someone could hurt anyone, especially their own son in this way.

minho nodded, no longer able to meet jisung's soft gaze. he felt he would fall apart if he did.

"he hates me", minho stated and his voice cracked.

jisung slowly got up and carefully pulled minho along so they could sit properly. minho was opening up to him and he planned on giving him his undivided attention.

"he abuses me. but it's gotten really bad recently", he continued. "i think he'll end up killing me one day."

jisung felt tears prick his eyes as he listened to minho. the moonlight shone into the living room through the window, casting it's light glow on minho's face. jisung was able to look at his features closely and realized how different he looked.

how broken he looked.

"what about your mom? is she there?" jisung asked softly.

a pained smile crossed minho's face. he started picking at the skin around his fingernails, a nervous habit he had. jisung immediately noticed, reaching out and holding minho's hands, gaining his attention.

"she's gone", minho said and a stray tear rolled down his cheek.

jisung's heart shattered at the sight.

"i'm so sorry."

he pulled minho into a hug and that was his breaking point. his body shook as wretched sobs escaped his throat, making him feel pain all over. the only thing that soothed him was jisung's embrace. he held onto jisung so tightly, like he was afraid he'd disappear if he let go.

jisung held the trembling boy close to him, running his hands through minho's hair. he hoped he could make him feel better. if only he knew how much he did.

"she died giving birth to me", minho said, his words muffled in jisung's shoulder. but the other still understood him perfectly.

"she died because of me. that's why my dad hates me." his words stung in his chest and were followed by a shaky breath.

"it's not your fault minho", jisung reassured.

"i know", minho sniffled. "but i still can't help but blame myself for it. part of me knows that it wasn't my fault and the other part of me says it's was. that i should've died instead of her."

jisung pulled away from minho, which made him frown. he cupped the crying boy's face in his hands, smoothing his thumb over minho's tear-stained cheek.

"minho don't ever say that", jisung said. he leaned in closer, pressing his forehead against minho's.

"you're worth so so much. even though sometimes it might not feel that way, please think of how many people care about you. i can't imagine how it is being treated that way by your own father, but everyone's love for you outweighs his hatred. your friends, they all care about you. i care about you. i need you here. you're so important to me. please don't ever think that way."

minho stared at jisung, unable to form any words. nobody had ever told him something like that. he knew his friends would probably feel the same way, but actually hearing someone say it was different.

hearing jisung say it was different.

"if you ever think that way, come to me. i'll remind you of all the reasons that make you worth everything."

minho smiled genuinely for the first time in a few days. not a smile caused by drugs, alcohol or adrenaline. an actual smile.

"i need you minho", jisung said.

minho swallowed the lump in his throat.

"... can i kiss you?" his voice was barely above a whisper but jisung heard him clear as day.

the younger nodded and that was all it took for minho to close the gap between them, their lips meeting in a sweet kiss.
