tw: mentions of bullying

—26—

"what the fuck happened back there?"

seungmin and felix looked down at the three, patiently waiting for an explanation.

they were now at felix's house and they'd just finished attending to hyunjin's injuries, mostly his nose.

"it's my fault. changbin and i got into a fight", minho spoke before anyone could say anything. "i'm sorry but i'd rather not talk about it. i don't really understand the situation either", he honestly said.

felix frowned at that. of course he wouldn't force minho to tell him if he didn't want to, but he couldn't think of anything that would make them fight this much. he hated being left in the dark. more than that, he hated seeing his best friends on bad terms.

he sighed and slumped into hyunjin's arms, who winced but nevertheless hugged the younger.

"will you tell us one day?" felix softly asked as he looked up at minho. the other stayed silent for a moment before hesitantly nodding. felix immediately caught onto that but he decided not to push him any further.

"are you okay lixie?" hyunjin asked and felix harshly bit his lip to prevent any tears from forming.

felix started wearing skirts and dresses when he was in australia. he liked feminine clothing and figured there was nothing wrong with it.

the students at his school disagreed. they either avoided or bullied him because of it. they would call him names, harass him, be violent toward him. even his best friends had turned on him.

what he hated most was when they'd refer to him as a girl.

they said they'd stop if he started dressing normal. but this was normal? at the end of the day it's just fabric.

eventually, his family moved to korea because of his father's job and he had to attend a new school. at first he was scared, but to his surprise the students seemed very accepting of him.

they praised and admired him for the way he dressed and at some point hyunjin had taken an interest in him, leading felix to become part of their friend group.

after a while he told them about what happened at his old school and opened up to them about everything. that's why they were all insanely protective of him.

they knew all his weaknesses and insecurities, and changbin used his biggest one against him.

felix sighed nodded weakly in response and hyunjin thread a gentle hand through his boyfriend's hair.

"anyways you guys hungry? i have some brownies. normal ones!"

the topic change was so abrupt that felix managed to get a small laugh out of everyone. for some reason that alone made the blonde feel a lot better.

"they hate me."

chan sighed. "well, i did tell you not to do it."

"chan i don't need your 'i told you so' right now", changbin groaned, sitting down on the bench next to chan.

"then what do you need?" chan asked.

"i need a drink."

the other shook his head. "that's the last thing you should be doing."

changbin sighed, hating how chan was always right. every single time. "you're right. some other time then."

"that's fine. we'll go when you're feeling better and this whole thing has passed, ok?" changbin nodded in agreement, giving chan a small but genuine smile.

"do your friends know you're with me?" he asked but immediately regretted it when he saw a frown cross chan's face.

"no. but they haven't talked to me in a while anyways. guess we're kind of in the same boat huh?"

changbin noticed how chan was facing away from him completely. he was such a good guy, he couldn't believe his friends weren't treating him right. it irritated him.

he wanted chan to be with seungmin and jisung again. not only would it make chan happy, but himself too. that'd mean he'd have the chance to fix the mess he'd made with minho and now hyunjin and felix as well. the others didn't matter to him. he didn't care too much about seungmin and he couldn't give a shit about jisung even if he tried to.

"no we're not. at least you didn't mess your friendship up. you would though if they find out we're friends, so you better keep that a secret."

chan raised a brow. "we're friends?" he jokingly asked, making changbin push him. "fuck off", changbin mumbled but he couldn't help laughing.

"i'm not hiding anything. if they find out, that's fine. i won't lie to them. if they can't accept that i'm friends with you, that's their problem", chan explained. "besides, minho has a whole army right now. you need me", he grinned, turning to face changbin.

the boy broke into a smile.

chan was right, he did need him.
