(Hi guys! Another movie fanfic! So I originally published this story on Archive of Our Own and it's my most read story on there. I decided to upload it here since it's October! If you haven't seen "Interview with the Vampire," go watch it! This story will be told in Charlotte's point of view unless stated otherwise. I hope you guys will enjoy this book)!

Today was the day for the dance. I did not want to go. Being forced to go someplace isn't necessarily fun. I guess the only fun thing about it is nobody knowing who I am. It was going to be a masquerade ball. I would be wearing a mask.
"Are you ready honey?" My fiance asked. I wanted to gag every single time he called me that. I am in a loveless, arranged courtship. My fiance claims to love me, but I know he doesn't. I tried to fall in love with him, but I just couldn't. We are unfortunately getting married next month.
Before my parents died two years ago, they paired us up together, making us officially betrothed to marry. I was just 18 then. He was 24. I just knew I didn't like him upon first meeting, but I refused to tell my parents and hurt them in the process. He tends to mistreat me and claim to others that he loves me and will be a loving husband. He even lied to my parents, before they both fell ill to the flu. I am an only child so I am essentially alone. Georges, my fiance, is no help at all. He doesn't provide me with any comfort. I just exist for him.
He calls me affectionate nicknames because he thinks I don't know he doesn't love me, despite the mistreatment. What an idiot. "Yes. I'm ready." I answered, gazing in the mirror. I hate the way I look. I am not beautiful. Not at all. "Great. Let's make our way then." Georges said. I nodded, grabbing my mask. Before I walked out the room, he grabbed my arm tightly.
"When we get there, you better wear your mask and remain alone. I don't want to see you talking to any man whatsoever. Do you understand me?" Georges whispered menacingly. He held my arm tighter to the point of me wincing when I didn't answer. I nodded, glaring right in his face. I removed my arm from his grasp and walked out of our house, where our carriage waited.
This was going to be absolutely miserable.
(There's chapter 1! I hope you guys enjoyed that! Enjoy chapter 2 after this one! See you there)!
