(I can't believe it. This is the last chapter. What an insane journey this has been. Thank you guys for sticking around. Enjoy this everyone)!
~ 1991 ~
For the past two years, Lestat and I began to catch up on everything. I told him everything that happened throughout the years I was grieving his loss. Lestat regretted turning Claudia. I didn't blame him. I loved Claudia dearly, but she never should have been turned. She was just a child.
Lestat has been feeding on my blood as he was too weak to go out and search for people, while I continued to hunt down evil people to replace the blood I lost. While the blood didn't give him the proper nourishment he needed, it still helped him little by little.
When Lestat was finally strong enough, we were able to move to San Francisco. The first night we were there, I went out to hunt and found Louis. He was also in San Francisco, the same as us. He didn't notice me but I noticed him. I remember tearing up a little. For 121 years, I thought he was dead. Just seeing him alive and well made me emotional. Shortly after though, I remember the sadness faded into anger, as I was still angry that he left me and agreed with Claudia when I needed him most. I needed him, believe it or not. He was also my lover. Not just Lestat.
I told Lestat about it and he told me to follow him and find out where he lived. Turns out, he didn't live that far from where we were staying. Tonight, he had a young man with him. A reporter, he looked like. "Oh, Louis. Since when do you make human friends?" I whispered, sarcastically. Louis never had human friends, or any for that matter. The only friend he truly had was me, before we developed a relationship. He cared about Lestat and was a father to Claudia, but we were really close before he blew it.
I went back and told Lestat what I saw. Since he was feeling stronger than before, we made our way to the apartment building. Lestat told me an idea he had, and I nodded. We decided to hide inside the young man's car in the backseat.
After awhile, the car started. I smirked at Lestat, knowing that our plan would start soon. The car was driven away. We were driving down the Golden Gate Bridge when we heard Louis' voice on the radio. It was a tape that the young man had recorded. After a few minutes, Lestat nodded.
I reached forward and grabbed his neck, pulling him backwards. Lestat sat up and looked down at him. "I assume I need no introduction." He said, biting the man's neck. The car spun out of control and hit many other cars. "Lestat!" I yelled. He stopped drinking the blood and went to the driver's seat. His skin turned back to how it was many years ago. He looked exactly the same as he did 166 years ago, before he "died" twice.
"I feel better already." Lestat muttered. He looked better, thank God.
He took the wheel and drove.
"Oh Louis, Louis. Still whining, Louis. Have you heard enough? I've had to listen to that for centuries." Lestat said in a sarcastic tone. I chuckled, missing his snarky comments. He changed the radio to a music station. He looked at the young man.
"Don't be afraid, I'm going to give you the choice I never had." He shared, putting the volume of the radio up. We looked at each other, love and adoration present in our eyes. We smiled and gazed at our maybe new fledgling, laughing as we drove. This was a repeat to 200 years ago, just maybe not so bad compared to before.
This all felt like a story. A story filled with love, tragedy, and later, happiness. For the past 206 years, I encountered all those things. I met Lestat and was turned into a vampire, and we were with each other for 40 years before tragedy struck twice and later for me, four times which would eventually turn into three. Happiness would come back to me in 1989, when I found Lestat again. And now here we are two years later. We are together at last and we are here to stay, still in love after 206 years.
This truly was a Shakespearean story, and it was mine.
