(This is gonna get real sad guys. I hope y'all will enjoy)!
The next night, Louis had stepped out to talk to Armand and to deny the offer of being his companion. A long while after Louis stepped out, Claudia stepped out too. I was left alone in the house.
After standing out on the balcony for a long period of time, the door eventually opened. Claudia walked in with a woman in tow. “Claudia, what are you doing?” I asked. “What I have to do.” Claudia mumbled. I gazed at her as she walked to the room as the woman followed behind. I looked into Claudia’s mind.
She was going to turn this woman into a vampire so she would be her companion. Louis would be Armand’s companion.
I sat on the couch, helpless. Tonight would be the last time I’d get to call them my companions. I’m going to be alone.
After what seemed like forever, Louis finally came home. He looked at me and saw tear streak marks present on my face. “What’s wrong, Charlotte?” Louis asked. I didn’t respond.
“Madeleine, Louis is shy.” Claudia spoke. Louis turned to look at the bedroom, where they stood.
The woman, Madeleine, walked out of the bedroom towards Louis, now wearing a green dress. She had a choker on. She removed it, exposing a bite mark on her neck. “Drink.” Madeleine said. Louis scoffed and turned away. “Do it Louis, because I cannot do it. I haven’t the strength. You saw to that when you made me!” Claudia exclaimed, angrily.
“You haven't the vaguest conception under God what you ask!” Louis yelled towards Madeleine. “Au contraire, monsieur, I have.” Madeleine responded. “You have found your new companion, Louis! You will make me mine!” Claudia shouted. I couldn’t take it anymore. I jumped up from my seat, furious.
“What about me huh, Claudia?! If Louis makes this woman your companion, he will go with Armand! I will be alone! I am not tied to the both of you! Only Lestat was!” I screamed. “Don’t ever say his name again!” Louis yelled. “Too bad, Louis! I am! You were his fledgling just as how I was and you both made Claudia together! What am I supposed to do now?!” I cried, tears escaping my eyes. Louis turned away from me, not knowing what to say.
“Remember Claudia? You killed my companion 45 years ago like it was nothing! And now you want a new companion because of your jealousy?! What am I supposed to do?!” I sobbed. “Then leave.” Claudia answered, coldly.
I gazed at her, feeling angry and betrayed. “So that’s how you feel about me. You think I’m nothing. That I don’t matter. You’ve always favored Louis. I have done so much for you and this is how you repay me. I became your mother for 75 years. And now what? It’s over because of Armand? You are willing to throw me away like I’m nothing, Throw me away like a broken doll.” I seethed, emphasizing the last two words. Dolls were significant to her, considering that a doll was Lestat’s last gift to her.
Claudia didn’t respond, because she knew I was right. She thought I was nothing and that I didn’t matter. I could see it in her thoughts. I turned to Louis in tears. “Louis, you’re going to let this happen?” I asked, in a sad whisper. He didn’t look at me. I scoffed. “I loved you, Louis. I loved you with every fiber of my being. You were mine and Lestat’s lover. We cared about you so much. I loved the both of you more than anything. When Claudia was turned, you three became my reason to live. You two were all I had left after you both took Lestat away from me. And now, I know what your true feelings are for me.” I growled in hiccuping sobs.
Silence was in the air as I walked to the door, grabbing my coat. I turned to look at them. “You know, you two wouldn’t have met each other if it wasn’t for Lestat. If he never made you Louis, you would’ve been long dead by now considering how you lived your life. Claudia, you would have either been dead by the plague, or sent to an orphanage. Or possibly, dead because of Louis. You are both together because of Lestat. At least show some gratitude.” I hissed. They stared at me, a sadness glimmering in their eyes.
“Goodbye.” I mumbled, walking out the door, knowing that would be the last time I’d ever see them.
(Well, that was something wasn't it? Poor Charlotte, once again. I hope you guys enjoyed this though! See you on Friday)!
