(Well, this is gonna be insane and depressing. I hope you guys will enjoy this)!
The tension between Lestat and Claudia wasn't necessarily solved. They haven't been around each other the whole day, which was pretty unusual since the four of us would be together all day.
I overheard Claudia and Louis talking so I knew they had made up. I just hoped the same would happen to Lestat and Claudia. He was still angry with her and no doubt she might've still been angry with him.
Lestat was playing piano, kind of loudly if I do say so myself. He usually played it calmly, but I knew he was angry. Maybe that was the best way to cure his anger.
I was busy reading when I heard the piano die down a little. I guess Lestat finally had enough with angrily hitting the piano keys.
A few more minutes went by and I couldn't hear anything anymore. "Hey Charlotte." Louis greeted. "Hello, chérie." I greeted back, standing up. I was bored so why not have a pleasant conversation with Louis? We were walking to the living room, and I was about to ask how everything went with Claudia, when we overcame a grueling, devastating sight.
Louis' POV:
Lestat's throat was cut and blood poured out of him. He was making gurgling sounds and tried to gasp for air. I looked at him in shock when I heard a heartbreaking scream.
"OH MY GOD! NO!" Charlotte screamed. She rushed towards Lestat, but I held her back. She was fighting me and tried her hardest to leave my arms. She began to sob while repeatedly calling out for Lestat. "NO!" She wailed, falling down to her knees, sobbing.
Lestat was holding his hand out. I didn't know if he was holding his hand out to Charlotte or me. Charlotte tried to grab his hand, but I pulled her back once again. "LOUIS LET ME GO!" Charlotte screamed. Charlotte wailed and cried, begging me to save Lestat.
"Louis, lift me up." Claudia whimpered as Lestat's blood came towards us. I lifted her up and pulled Charlotte back as she continued to cry.
Lestat's gurgling and choking sounds seized and his head dropped. His face looked different. It was horrifying to see. "Goodnight sweet prince. May flights of devils wing you to your rest." Claudia said. I was in shock at the fact that Lestat was dead. I was heartbroken for Charlotte.
"Should we burn him? Bury him? What would he have liked Louis–" Claudia began to ask, trailing off as I snatched the knife away from her, throwing it. "The swamp." Claudia said, matter-of-factly.
I set Charlotte aside, who had stopped sobbing and was silently crying instead, and loaded up Lestat's body in the carriage. When I returned to fetch Charlotte, she was gazing ahead as tears streamed down her face. She never batted an eye at me. I helped her up and took her to the carriage. She didn't object and continued to gaze ahead.
We raced to the swamp. We got there and we walked inside, towards the lake. Charlotte sat next to me as I began to put his body inside the lake. Charlotte began to sob again. "Please, don't put him in there." Charlotte pleaded. I tried my hardest to ignore her and continued to put him in the lake. I could still hear her crying.
Claudia walked forward. "He belongs with those reptiles, Louis. He deserved to die." Claudia said. I did not know what Charlotte could do or say in response to that, but I knew it wouldn't be good.
"Then perhaps so do we, every night of our lives. He was my maker. He gave me this life, whatever it is. It shouldn't have been this way." I muttered. "I did it for us, Louis. So we could be free." Claudia revealed.
Charlotte turned to glare at Claudia. "You traitor." Charlotte mumbled in a raspy voice. Her eyes were red and bloodshot. Her throat for sure was sore from all that screaming. Claudia looked frightened of her. She didn't think this through. By killing Lestat, she was hurting Charlotte in the process.
She stood up, glaring down at Claudia. "He did not deserve to die. You killed him for nothing. For that, I hate you." Charlotte snarled, walking back to the carriage. Claudia and I gazed at each other in shock. Charlotte never said words like that. "Claudia, you didn't think this through. You hurt Charlotte really badly. I don't think she'll ever forgive you." I explained. Claudia looked down, a guilty look on her face.
Charlotte would never be the same, I knew that well enough. She lost Lestat, who she loved and cherished more than anyone in the world.
(Poor Charlotte and Lestat. This really did turn out to be like "Romeo and Juliet" didn't it? It's gonna get more depressing in the upcoming chapters. I hope you guys enjoyed this! See you Monday)!
