Grian was frozen, his body didn't know how to react. He couldn't tell if any of the hermits recognised the symbol or not, he assumed at least Xisuma would but he didn't know the extent of each hermit's knowledge of watchers. Stress then asked something to the group, "Do you know what that symbol is?"
A few murmurs could be heard across the hermits, mostly also not knowing the origin of the symbol. Xisuma took a few seconds before he replied, "It's the symbol of the watchers,"
That made a few of the hermits freeze up, they might not have recognised the symbol, many didn't, but a lot more knew who watchers were. They are enemies of admins and players who only wish for power, they're creatures who cause pain and hurt to everyone who gets involved with them. Grian knew that first hand, he was after all a watcher, but he had run away as soon as he could. He was forced to learn at the school he was taken to and in his final year, he left and hid as a player. He had never told anyone though, he hid that part of himself away, he didn't want it to be a part of himself. It didn't surprise him that Xisuma knew either since he was an admin and his brother, who was Grian's roommate at the academy, was a watcher.
"Watchers?" Ren asked, it didn't surprise him that some of the hermits didn't know, he wouldn't have known if his old server was more protected.
"They are powerful creatures who are the direct enemies of admins, they don't care who they hurt to get what they want. They started the war with admins 1000 years ago for no reason other than power. They are known to destroy servers if they feel like it, or just torture them. They have control of magic which can not be affected by code, they also have large purple wings and they are able to fly with them. They are known as evil in mortal form," Xisuma explained.
Everyone froze up after Xisuma had finished talking, no one was speaking. It took a few minutes of silence before Jevin asked, "So what does that mean for us?"
"I'm not sure, but we need to be prepared," Xisuma said, he then turned to address everyone, "How many of you knew about watchers before today?"
Some hands slowly came up, they belonged to Doc, Wels and Joe. Grian then also raised his hand, he just had to remember to be careful about how much he gave away. Xisuma then faced the four hermits and asked, "Can you four stay behind?"
They all nodded and Xisuma turned back to everyone else, "For now we don't want to panic, but we should still make some preparations just in case. I will try and keep you all updated,"
Everyone else then nodded as well and slowly one by one they flew off back to wherever they were before they all saw the message.
After a few minutes, the only ones left were Doc, Xisuma, Wels, Joe and Grian. Grian was staying quiet as he walked over to the other hermits. Xisuma then asked, "What do you know about watchers?"
"I've only heard some stories about them from some of my friends in previous servers," Doc replied.
"It's pretty much the same for me, just stories about some servers being destroyed as well," Wels replied.
Joe nodded as he agreed his knowledge was about the same, Grian decided to nod as well so he could still be somewhat helpful without, hopefully, having to reveal himself. "Xisuma, what do you know about watchers?" Joe then asked.
"Being an admin we got told all about watchers and how they are our enemies. There has also been a watcher on the server before that I have had to stop," Xisuma told the small group.
That shocked the small group, minus Grian he had known about Zyrex joining since he used to sneak out during the nights. "Who was it?" Doc asked the admin.
"Evil X is a watcher," Replied the admin, "He isn't as powerful as some of the others but he did try and cause harm while he was here, as some of you may remember,"That made the small group speechless once again, they knew that Evil X was, well, evil but they never realised that he could be a watcher. "Do you think it could be him that made the symbol?" Wels asked.
No, Grian thought to himself, Zyrex wouldn't do something so boring. He was a tad more dramatic than that and probably would just show up himself. Also, you know he was banned.
"No, EX is still banned and it doesn't seem like his style," Xisuma said."So what's our plan of defence?" Grian said, finally joining in the conversation.
"For now we just need to try an alternative way to get rid of any watchers if they decide to attack, especially since I won't be able to ban all of them and some of them might not be able to be banned," Xisuma replied.
The other four hermits all nodded, understanding that they needed to try and figure out a way to stop the watchers from destroying their server.
Grian knew that if he needed to he would give himself over to save the server, he would choose to protect them always, they were his family after all. He decided to get as ready as he could, he pulled a sword out of a small portal he opened. His sword would be able to kill any watchers that tried to hurt his family. In one of the rooms of his mansion, with only moonlight illuminating the room, Grian practised his sword skills as well as warming up his magic, which took a few attempts since he hadn't used it in so long. As he decided to let his training draw to an end he heard a voice yell out, "XELQUA!"
He looked around to see if it came from nearby, and to see whoever the person was that knew his watchers name, but he couldn't see anyone. "XELQUA!" the voice called out again. He recognised it and his hand moved up to his chest where a burn mark was with a scar over the burn. He was shocked and his body went rigid. He didn't remember how he got it.
