freyja sat on the floor of her bedroom, leaning against the window. matt sat on her bed. both teens had got changed into dry clothes as soon as they got back from the little stone building. the time on matt's phone said that it was almost 6:00. they had been gone for a long time.

freyja took a deep breath. "thanks for this, matt." he smiled, nodding his head. she looked up at him, but he was already staring at her. a blush began to creep its way up her neck.

"I thought of a way to deal with the comments," matt said in a deciding tone, and freyja nodded, looking down at her hands, while he spoke. "how about you log out of all your social medias? maybe it would help to take a break. i could also talk to nic and make sure you're not in any upcoming videos."

freyja nodded. "but I don't want anyone else to know what's going on."

"they don't have to know. i also thought that maybe I could log into your instagram on my phone and report the comments, so you don't have to see them again."

freyja nodded again. she didn't understand how matt had come up with this in the span of one hour.  "now we just have to think of a way to deal with the divorce." when freyja didn't say anything, matt stood up and began to walk towards the armchair that blocked the door. "matt." he turned around, to see freyja standing up. "I really appreciate this. it means a lot that you care."

matt grinned. "of course I care, frey." there it was again. that stupid nickname that gave her butterflies.

as matt closed the bedroom door, freyja smiled to herself. maybe one day, the butterflies in her stomach would fly free.

freyja sat outside on the porch. she knew that it was freezing outside, but the cool air relaxed her. everyone else was asleep, and the moon lit up the snowy peaks and snow-covered ground. she was wrapped in a blanket and wore a hoodie and a dressing gown underneath it.

the clock had ticked past 2am an hour ago, and now it was almost 3am. freyja had been outside for almost an hour. she had woken up covered in a sickening cold sweat, and after covering up, she had tiptoed through the house to where she sat now.

she was grateful for all matt was doing for her, but she still didn't feel reassured that everything would work out. freyja knew she should just accept that it wasn't in her hands now, but it was hard, because in a way it still was. it was her issue. it was almost as if matt was putting a bandaid on it, because one-day freyja would be reminded of everything and the bandaid would be ripped away to reveal an open wound.

she was so lost in thought that she didn't hear the porch door open. when she felt the warmth of another person, she looked and saw matt was next to her, wearing a hoodie and sweatpants. he was staring out at the mountains just as she had been. "do you want some blanket?" freyja asked, realising how many more layers she had on than him. matt nodded, and he helped her to wrap the blanket around his shivering body. the blanket pulled their bodies together so that they were sitting hip to hip. they sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes, but matt was the one to break it.

"so, why are you out here in the middle of the night in the cold?" he asked, turning to look at her.

"I could ask you the same thing," freyja replied, not turning to look at him.

"well, im here because I wanted to talk to you and you weren't in your bed, so I figured you were probably outside."

"you wanted to talk to me at 3 in the morning?" freyja turned to look at him, confused. matt scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

"well, I wasn't able to talk to you for the rest of the night, and then you went to bed. i couldn't sleep so I figured, hey, there's no better time than the present." matt grinned.
