It's almost an out-of-body experience you sort of see what's going on but it's as though you are trying to listen to a blurry radio station that's not quite connected. There is a figure, a bright light, and two more figures appear. The black shapes seem to stretch and shrink as you can't focus. 'Tart.' there's noise but you only make out the odd word or two. You see something shiny it's bright. One of the black figures falls to the floor. The shiny object lands on the floor beside you and now sort of has a reddish hue. 'Alive?' You see a red river spilling over the white sand you are lying on. Sand? That can't be right where were you again? Another of the dark figures approaches you. Nothing.
"For you, I would cross the line
I would waste my time
I would lose my mind
They say, "She's gone too far this time"Don't blame me, love made me crazy
If it doesn't, you ain't doin' it right
Lord, save me, my drug is my baby
I'll be usin' for the rest of my life
Don't blame me, love made me crazy
If it doesn't, you ain't doin' it right
Oh, Lord, save me, my drug is my baby
I'll be usin' for the rest of my life"
Beep. Beep. Beep. Your eyes flutter open and you see the ceiling of your four-poster bed and you feel so groggy. It takes you a while to adjust you look down at your hand see the drip inserted and look up seeing the heart monitor beeping away beside your bed. The next thing you see is the baroness she's sitting in an armchair wrapped in a blanket her hair looks messy and not pinned up properly. Her eyes are closed but you can tell she's been crying and she looks so pale. '(y/n)?' turning you see John in a chair by your door he speaks softly. 'What happened?' you ask quietly not wanting to disturb the baroness. John stands and stretches he goes over and asks you if you need anything.
John helps you sip from a glass of water as you are still pretty weak. He then tells you about the gala and Grayson, that part you do recall. Then he informs you that you were drugged you nod. 'So, did he get what he wanted?' you ask emotionlessly. 'No, the Baroness stopped the whole gala to locate you and we came straight after you.' Again you nod. 'What happened then?' John hesitates and thinks then settles on n answer. 'We go there before he could cause you any harm.' At this, you stretch and smile. 'Cryptic, cryptic John.' you tease. 'What happened to Grayson?' Again a pause. 'He was dealt with.' You roll your eyes. 'Thanks for saving me.' you say softly. John looks over at the sleeping Baroness. 'I was just her back up.'
You look over at the baroness and you smile fondly. 'Of course.' you look back at John. 'How long have I been out?' John checks his watch. 'Just coming up on 40 hours.' You nod. 'Damn must've been a hell of a drug.' You prop yourself up a little on the pillows. 'The baroness insisted you be treated at home the medical team is on stand-by downstairs they said it was a waiting game. I'll get the doctor to check you over then we can dispense of them.' You consider and shake your head. 'Not yet please, can you switch that off and give me some time with her?' John nods and you wince removing your drip and heart monitor.
John switches the machine off so it doesn't make any more noise. 'Baroness.' he gently touches her shoulder and she snaps awake. 'John, (y/n) where is-' she notices the heart monitor is off and her eyes immediately dart to you. You smile softly at her from your bed. 'Hey, beautiful.' She throws off her blanket and rushes to your side and John exits. 'Are you okay? I have doctors on standby downstairs.' she fusses and you grab her hand. 'I know I asked John to hold them off I wanted to spend some time with you first.' you see how red her eyes are and how tired she looks, you also noted she's in her gown from the party though you are now in nightwear. 'You stayed in the same outfit for more than five minutes?' you tease her.
Looking down she blushes fashion is everything to her. 'I-yes, sorry,' the fact she is apologising for this in itself is so cute. 'I didn't want to leave your side in case anything happened.' At this, you can feel your heart melt. 'You wanted to stay with me?' The baroness nods as she studies you. 'Why don't you call the doctor up to check me over and get ready for bed you've earned it. Your back must be killing you sitting there all that time.' The baroness leans down stroking your cheek she presses a kiss to your forehead but stays for the longest time her hand on your pale shoulder. When she draws back she strokes your cheek again. 'I can't lose you.' you take her hand and kiss it. 'Never gonna happen.'
The doctor checks you over and you get the all clear the baroness comes back to your room she's wrapped in her cream coloured dressing gown with white fur. 'Good news I'm healthy as a horse.' you beam at her. The baroness approaches you. 'May I?' she looks at the space beside you. You toss back the covers patting the mattress, she gets in beside you but it's like she thinks you are porcelain and she's scared she'll break you. 'Your freezing!' she's so cold from sitting in that armchair for two days solid. 'I'm, sorry.' You chuckle and wrap your arms around her tightly warming her up. The baroness closes her eyes and feeling more confident wraps her arms around you and holds you close.
You rub her back soothingly she's stiff from sitting for two days straight and your focus is to relax her muscles. Her body is shaking it's not just the cold, the idea of losing you has her terrified you are her world. She strokes your hair and her heartbeat starts to calm you feel this as your head is against her chest. You entwine your legs with hers, god her skin is so soft. 'Thanks for saving me.' you run your hand up and down her back she closes her eyes inhaling your scent. 'I...' but she can't say it and you don't mind you smile against her chest. 'You too.'
