A sense of calm surged through my battered body, giving me strength. Although I still ached, I felt surprisingly better. Hah! Jessica can't beat me that easily and win! If I have dreams like that, it will be easy not to give in! I thought confidently as I realized that I was now stretched, painfully, over some type of stand. My hands and legs were chained and tied to the legs of the stand. This was an incredibly painful position to be in, especially with how much I've already gone through. Already in the short amount of time I've been here, I have been shocked for no reason but to be mean. I've been beaten mercilessly, to the point that I would lose consciousness. Jessica has already burned me with hot oil and water, but I knew that she wasn't finished with that part. Despite what my situation was, I kept Kirstin on my mind, and every time, it annoyed Jessica. In a sense, that could be considered funny, that is, if she wouldn't shock or burn me every time she got annoyed at me. Just when she thought I would have no energy left, I always thought of Kirstin, and new energy returned. Suddenly I felt Jessica put her hand on my back. She pushed down, making me bite my lip to keep from crying out in pain. Then she straddled me and forced my head back.

Jessica: You can fight back all you want, but that doesn't change anything.

I felt her get handed something, and she laughed. What is that sound? I wasn't a horse girl, but I've been in a barn enough to know what a bridle sounds like. I felt a metal bar on my lips, and it was forcefully pushed into my mouth. A strap fastened it on my head. Two straps, one on each side, and it was tightened to the point that it felt like my wrists and ankles. Then the weight from Jessica was lifted, and something was put onto my back. It almost felt like a saddle. It was strapped on, and I had to keep myself from crying in pain. After being beaten and burned, it was extremely painful. A laugh sounded beside me, and Jessica crouched down to run a whip down my neck. My brown eyes blazed with rage and anger as I glared at her. If she thinks she can dampen my spirit, she's dead wrong! I can't be broken, like Spirit! She removed the "bit" from my mouth as if she was about to taunt me.

Jessica: You want to say something?

I hesitated, amusement sparking in my brown eyes. Hah! She never saw this coming! A tune started in my head, and soon it was clear what I was saying.

Me: You can't take me; I'm free.

Jessica: What does that mean?

Me: Exactly what it says? Why are you so difficult?

Jessica: Why are you so stubborn?

Me: Hah, you can't dampen my spirit! And besides, I got a story to tell you.

Jessica: Oh, you do?

Me: Yep!

I found the energy to smile as Kirstin's song See it came into my head. Oh, you are going to wish that you never even captured me. Suddenly she seemed to become smarter. Jessica stood up and looked over to the left.

Jessica: Forget today's session. She can't fight back much anyway. And besides, we can't have our prisoner too weak. Can we?

I just glared at her and mouthed: "You will regret this." Jessica rolled her eyes and unstrapped me. Huh? I was confused about what was going on. When she turned, I saw that there was a mark on her neck that I had never seen before. It looked like a burn. Was Jessica not as evil as I had originally thought? Could it be possible that it's all her father and none of it her own wishes? Footsteps faded in the distance, and suddenly I was unstrapped from the stand.

Jessica: Get up.

She leaned down to whisper: "Please, don't say anything to anyone what I'm about to tell you."
