My brown eyes fluttered open, and I felt chains around my body. I vaguely remembered what happened this past "session," but I knew they did something that made me feel like this. It was now dark, telling me that it was night. I originally thought Jessica was gone, but then she walked into the room. She started to unstrap me. I could barely lift my head; I was so weak. Victoria then walked into the room carrying something. Jessica whipped around and stood defensively in front of me.
Jessica: What are you doing here?
Victoria: Dad told me to help you watch her and to do whatever I want to her before I left.
A smile spread across her face as Jessica stepped forward, her fists clenched. I coughed and then winced in pain. My back was bleeding and my mouth felt as if I had a rope drawn tightly.
Jessica: Leave her alone! Can't you see that she might die at any moment?
Her voice was filled with distress, as if she was worried about me. Victoria just rolled her eyes and pushed Jessica to the side. She lifted her arm, and I squeezed my eyes shut, expecting Victoria to start beating me. Nothing happened, and I winced, holding my breath because I suddenly found it painful to breathe. Then I realized that a chain had been tightened around my neck, and whenever I tried to take a breath, it would poke me. Painfully opening my eyes, I saw Jessica against the wall. What did Victoria do to her? Jessica wasn't moving and was against the wall as if she were chained.
Victoria: You are going to watch me beat her to the point that it seems like she's dead.
Jessica: No! You can't!
Victoria: Quiet! I knew that you were a traitor. I haven't told dad yet, so you keep your mouth shut, and I won't tell him.
Victoria lifted her hand again and, this time followed through. I cried out in pain, only to feel pressure around my neck. Victoria beat me, and I felt the energy drain from my body. Jessica wiggled free of her chains and rushed over, spreading her body over mine in an attempt to protect me. I slid off the stand, thanks to Victoria. I watched in horror as Victoria beat her sister. Jessica weakly lifted her head, and I saw that she would do anything to protect me now. Soon tired of beating her sister, Victoria came over and beat my exposed legs. When she was done, she kicked me against the wall. I shuddered when Victoria put me onto my stomach and pressed my face against the floor. She put her knee on the middle of my beaten back and pushed hard on it. I winced in pain, too scared to cry out. Victoria pulled out a knife and plunged it partially into my side. This time I cried out in pain, and she slapped my arm. She sat on top of me, putting pressure on my neck with her hand as she pulled my arm back painfully until I started to weaken. My brown eyes closed, and everything went black.
I woke up to a soft hand nudging me awake. Jessica's green eyes were filled with tears, and her face was bruised.
Jessica: Come on.
She pressed her body against mine to help me stand up. My legs wouldn't hold me up, so Jessica put one of her arms underneath my neck and the other supported my legs.
Me: A-are you okay?
The words were gasped out as Jessica carried me to the same room from the other night. She gently placed me on the couch, and I coughed. She stood up to get the first aid kit and began treating my wounds. When she saw my bleeding side, she gasped. Jessica leaped up to get something to stop the bleeding. After she was done with treating me, she sighed wearily. My breathing was labored, and paged Katie, who had nurse experience.
Jessica: Can you come to check on Kailyn? Her breathing is very labored. I'm worried that she might not make it long.
When Katie had checked me over, she put her hand gently on Jessica's knee. Katie smiled warmly at her in a calming manner.
Katie: Calm down, Jessica. She's just in pain. Also, Kailyn is strong, she'll survive. Samantha called me and said that they were heading to Disney and then here. Also, some of their friends are headed this way now.
Jessica: Can we do something to help them?
Katie: I could see where they are going to stay, then I might tell them about here. If that is what you mean?
Jessica: Or you could tell them to search the area and then do it with them.
Katie: Yeah! That would work out better. Because then I could lead them here but then not give it away.
Jessica: Thank you, Katie.
Katie stood up and walked out, leaving Jessica and me alone. Jessica sighed as she watched me rest. She gently placed her hand on my leg as I slept. The seconds ticked by, and she glanced at the clock. With a weary sigh, she lifted me into her arms and carried me back to the room.
Jessica: I'm sorry, but this has to happen.
She strapped me, reluctantly, to the stand with another sigh. Jessica softly rubbed the back of my neck, and it helped the pain and me relax.
Jessica: Relax, Kailyn. It will help with the pain. If you're tense, it will cause more pain than the understandable pain.
I couldn't answer because I was in pain and weak. I had no energy left to fight back or anything along those lines. Jessica knew that if Kirstin, Scott, Mitch, and whoever else was with them didn't come soon, it might be too late.
