15- Surprise Visits

Y/N's POV

It was quiet in the car as Jungkook drove us to Mateo's office. My mind kept going back to the sad look on Jimin's face when we walked out but I was hurt. I understand why he is protective. Hell, I'm protective of Juliet now and have known Taehyung for years but that doesn't mean I'm going to growl every time he touches her.

"You do know it's not romantic love, right?" Jungkook asked tentatively. I let out a sigh and nodded. He cared for us and he cared for Juliet there was nothing wrong with that. "So?"

"So, we only react that way when someone touches our mate. I don't go growling at Hobi or you at Yoongi when they touch each other. It was different yesterday because Tae was a stranger that wanted to take Juliet into his car. After his little speech and then they got to know each other, I expected him to tone down. Honestly, it wouldn't be such a big deal if he hadn't talked about her while we were being intimate and proceeded to act like a jealous mate."

"All true. It stung me as well but I feel as though there is more to the story. While he is our mate, we have only known him for a few hours." He reasoned as we pulled into the parking lot.

"I guess." I relented. We walked in and his secretary stood and bowed in greeting. "Good morning Camillo."

"Good morning!" He said in his chipper voice with a little bounce. His curly hair continued to bounce even when he stopped. What I loved was his childlike outlook that was mirrored in his smile. In a way, reminding me of Jin. "Mateo said you guys were coming. Go on in!"

We thanked him before going in to see Mateo sitting at his desk. When he saw it was us, he stood up which made me smile. It didn't matter how long we went seeing each other, this Beta would always greet you as if it's been years.

"What brought you guys in to see me today?" He asked as we all took a seat on the sofas to the side. Mateo thought talking from behind the desk was too formal. That it would cause an unnecessary divide when he wanted people to feel comfortable around him.

"We have two situations to discuss with you and we will eventually need to bring them to the Alpha's attention," Jungkook spoke and Mateo switched into what I called Beta Mode. His back was straight, his face serious, and all his attention was on Jungkook. "Yesterday, we came across an Alpha and an Omega in the town shopping center. When we spoke they explained that they were from the Fire Pack. They are running from an Alpha that tried to force the Omega into a mating-"

"WHAT??!!" Mateo yelled out with his fists clenched. Jungkook simply nodded before continuing.

"Even after they ran he continued to pursue her. She is part of a lineage that has been major leaders of the Fire Pack and he believes having her as a mate will grant him a position of authority. His name is Marshall White." When he said that Mateo looked ready to kill Marshall on sight. "We come here because we want to offer her protection. They are staying with us and we want to allow her to have a keycard but with no electronic record of her name."

"While that is understandable it might raise more questions. We could have her sign in with only Alexis under a false name. She would need to be told as head of security. What is her name?"

"Juliet Johnson."

"Thomas Johnson's daughter?!" He asked in surprise. I turned to Jungkook in surprise.

"I'm not sure of her father's name. Only that he was once Alpha of the Fire Pack." I answered.

"The last time we were on good terms with the Fire Pack was when Thomas was Alpha. After he stepped down we noticed the turn leadership took and began to distance ourselves." Mateo said. "He is a good man and I would be extremely disappointed in myself if I did nothing to protect his daughter from this monster. I know our Alpha will agree. You do not want to know what he has done to wolves who have tried to force a mating before."
