25-A Night Howl

Jungkook's POV

I was driving but couldn't stop myself from looking at Y/N out of the corner of my eye. Jimin could tell something was wrong too but there wasn't time to tell him the full story. He knew Y/N's brother and father were killed by rouges just not details. How the warning howls woke up Y/N and her mother and they had to wait hours for someone to return for any kind of news. This was the first time since that night, that the warning howls have happened. While that is a good thing, meaning we haven't had any issues, it is bringing back the memories of that night. As I drove, the scent in the car changed and I smiled when I realized what it was. I looked in the mirror to smile at our alpha as he released his calming pheromones into the air. 

The three of us had just stepped out of the shower when we heard the warning howls. Y/N gasped and froze, gripping her towel. When they continued, we threw on the bare minimum to talk to Taehyung and Juliet before leaving for the Alpha's house. He was most likely out in the field but our instructions as the next leaders were to report to the Luna and see where we could be most useful. While Jimin had yet to accept the position, we knew he wasn't going to leave his mates in a time of danger. As we pulled up to the Alpha's house, our Luna and Beta Female opened the door. Y/N exited the car, Jimin and I quickly following after her, and ran to the two before jumping into their arms. We stood behind her and bowed before we all went into their house. 

"Luna, have you had any word from the Alpha or Beta?" I asked. On any other day I would use their names but, in this situation, it felt needed to keep my head focused. They both seemed to understand and nodded. Carmen, the Beta Female, looked down at Y/N. She was the Beta female to her mother and went through a similar pain but knew Y/N needed to be strong. She held her face and had her look in her eyes before whispering, "There will be time for this later." Y/N nodded and took a deep breath before returning to stand by us as we all turned to Emily. 

"The Alpha was home when he received a phone call about an unfamiliar scent on our eastern border. He called for the Beta to run out and help the patrol team as his home is closer. It wasn't a little longer until we heard the warning howls for ourselves. The Alpha immediately transformed and left to meet them." The Luna spoke strongly and kept her body straight but as someone who has gotten to know her on a personal level, I saw the fear hidden in her eyes. "Our Beta Female came here, and we have been handling security not just for the community but making sure those outside know this is not a false alarm. Considering that it has been years since the warning howls have sounded it was not needed."

"Would you like me to join our Alpha and Beta?" I asked. I heard Y/N take in a breath, but she didn't object. This was a part of my job and Jimin would remain with them. As much as we would hate to be separated, we had a duty to our pack. The Luna gave me soft smile before shaking her head no. 

"As we do not know the extent of the situation, we do not want to many people out. It could lead to confusion and that would be more dangerous." This time in a lighter tone than before. I nodded and I think she also said no as to help Y/N. A Luna doesn't just think of her pack's physical safety but emotional well-being. She is the heart of the pack.

"Is there anything we can do to help Luna?" Jimin asked.

"Let us sit and talk. It is useless to wait and worry besides I have some questions for you, young Alpha." She answered as she led us into her living room.

"Luna?" Jimin said showing his confusion. At this, Y/N and I couldn't help but to smile at each other. We knew what Emily was doing and each grabbed one of Jimin's hands and led him to the couch where the older women were waiting for us. It had already helped Y/N's emotions to settle down which I was grateful for.

"You are the mate to Y/N and Jungkook. Did you really believe that the small introduction at the council meeting was going to be enough?" Emily said with a smile, one that Carmen shared. even if they both had smiles, we all knew they were still listening for anything. I think that is why Jimin nodded before speaking.
