It worked, except it also didn't, thus making Ansel, Newt, Thomas, Frypan, Brenda and Jorge travel miles upon miles to the heart of WICKED. There they end up meeting a ghost as well as a traitor. And from that point forward, WICKED burns to the ground.
But there is one thing that Ansel isn't quite sure he'll ever be able to move on from. After losing his mother, he doesn't know if he really has the strength to deal with a loss like this.
