Hajiya Maimuna, Jannah, Aisha and Nawal are currently sitting in the mini living room after having their breakfast. None of them had taken bath, just wasting the morning away watching Fatma Al-Amr's reality show. Jannah had forgotten about the woman, part of the reasons why she wanted to make her husband go crazy. A lot had happened since then that it felt like centuries ago already ensued.
She glanced down at her yellow ring given to her by Imara, she's added the orange one which she's put around her thumb. Her eyes watered again but she blinked them back before she suddenly remembered that there is something she needs to do for the day. It's been several days now, she's lost count on how many days since her daughter's demise but it's been more than three weeks. Her wardrobe in the house is emptying though the clothes have been laundered. She needed a change.
Her eyes moseyed to her mother-in-law's, she is intently staring at the television just like the other occupants of the room. Except, of course, Nawal who's busy with her phone once in a while.
"Mom, I want to go to the mansion and get some clothes and see how the maids are coping over there." She blurted, watching her mother-in-law slowly lowered her gaze to where she is sitting on the carpeted floor.
"Oh, alright. You should do that. Should I call the chauffeur while you get ready?" Hajiya Maimuna is already browsing for her phone beside her but Jannah stopped her.
"There is no need, I can drive myself there. Besides, I'll have to drop Aisha at her school too. She's forgotten that the registration is going to be over tomorrow and she hasn't done anything yet." Jannah muttered while staring fixedly at a startled Aisha who caught the bits of the conversation where her name was mentioned.
"I'm not going to any school I don't know about. I told you I wanted to do everything myself but no, you had to poke your small nose." Aisha quipped, her eyes snapping back to the television as if dismissing Jannah.
But Jannah wasn't having it. "You were taking too long to apply and they would've closed the whole thing. I had to step in just in case you are going through something. And besides, you'll pay me back when you are ready. It is not for free."
"I don't know what you are talking about." Aisha grunted again, her attention trying to be on Fatma Al-Amr but she listens.
Nawal kept her phone away to join the conversation, she was getting bored. "Aisha you shouldn't be ungrateful. She's helped you. That pride of yours will end you one day. Do you want to wait for another year again before you start facing your dreams and future?"
"No." Aisha mumbled beneath her breath, they only read her lips.
"Then you should do as she said. Get ready and get those papers going. Time will not wait for you." Nawal patted her own back at the way she's advised the girl. She's never advised anyone calmly or given a good one before.
"Fine." Came from Aisha in a snarl like way that earned her chuckles.
Nawal's legs fell from the couch as she read something in her phone, her lips went slag but her eyes rapidly scanned the phone while she scroll down. Jannah wanted to stand up and go get ready but she is too curious at what Nawal saw in her phone that got that reaction from her. Is it Draco? What happened to him? There is still no news about him though Ammar confirmed that he is in his penthouse and had resumed work.
"Mom, remember what I told you about Janan's family and this Mariam?" Nawal questioned her mother, her attention still on her phone.
Hajiya Maimuna also leaned forward at the topic just as Jannah's ears pricked like an elf's. "Yes, I remember."
"Well, her father forced her to retreat or he disowns her. Can you imagine? Because of that bitch! He wants to send his daughter packing away from his house? Is that man out of his mind and what had Mariam said or did to him to get such harsh treatment from him?" Nawal mulled the questions in her head as she continued to murmur to herself.
