"San! What's making that noise?" Wooyoung groaned as he covered his ears. The annoying beeping had been going on for over ten minutes now and Wooyoung was beyond stressed. He had been trying to sleep so that they could steal another car and then head east, but the consistent beeping was bothering him.
They had taken refuge in an abandoned house and San had told Wooyoung to stay put while he found some supplies. San just wanted things to make a weapon so he could defend them if need be. He knew that if the time came, he could defend them with his fists but he would rather have something sharp and quick at injuring someone.
"Woo, quiet! Don't shout." San entered the room Wooyoung was huddled in and shushed him before turning to leave again. However, he paused when he heard the beeping too. It sounded like morse code.
"Hold on. Where is that coming from?" San followed the noise until he stood right in front of Wooyoung's crouched figure.
"I don't know," Wooyoung muttered.
"Check your pockets. Do you still have your earpiece? I think I lost mine."
Wooyoung checked his pants before finding the earpiece and giving it to San.
"Help me find paper and something to write with," San demanded and Wooyoung was up on his feet searching through the house.
After a couple of minutes, Wooyoung shouted from another room, stating that he found a pencil and a really old piece of paper. "Does this work?"
"Yes perfect." San raced back to the earpiece and listened.
"San-" San shushed Wooyoung and started to write letters down on the paper. "Sorry," Wooyoung mumbled before sitting on the floor crisscrossed.
He peered over San's shoulder and watched as the man produced letters. It looked to be coordinates and a date. "I think one of the members is playing this."
"Who?" Wooyoung stood up.
"I don't know."
"Are these able to work long distances?" Wooyoung questioned as he took the earpiece from San.
"Usually they do... I don't know about across oceans though."
"How do you make it stop?" Wooyoung whined as he tried to put it to his ear.
"You don't..?" San sighed. "Here, let me see. I'll try to reset it."
After a couple of minutes, the beeping stopped and both Wooyoung and San were relieved.
"Should we go there?" Wooyoung questioned and then added. "But what if it's a trap..?"
San let out a sigh as he leaned against the wall, right beside Wooyoung. He wrapped his arm around the boy's shoulder and let the boy lean into him.
"Woo, listen to me." San had the boy face him. "No matter what happens, I'm not going to let anyone hurt you."
Wooyoung frowned. "I don't want you to get hurt either."
"They're not trying to hurt me. They're trying to hurt you."
"But you're going to do something stupid and get yourself hurt. I don't want you to put yourself in harms way because of me. This is my fight, not yours."
San was speechless. It seemed like Wooyoung was the adult instead of San. The man was in his head too much. He was constantly worried about Wooyoung getting hurt that he did not care about himself. If he ended up getting killed he didn't care, just as long as Wooyoung was safe.
