They'd been at sea for a few days now.
Blake had overheard that every cabin had been taken, but she had no confirmation of that. She and Sun had been living in one of the lifeboats. It was easy to hide inside since it was covered up at the top by a fabric, and Blake could overhear if someone was going to check inside thanks to her cat ears. Sun liked to explore, and he was good at keeping himself hidden, as far as Blake knew. But she preferred to remain in the safety of the lifeboat, listening to anyone who spoke nearby.
From what she'd overheard, it seemed the White Fang didn't know where they were going. She had overheard many of them asking the same questions she'd been wondering herself.
"Where are we going, anyway?"
"How long until we get there?"
"Should've brought a book."
Man, Blake connected to the latter. She missed her books. Laying inside this lifeboat for twenty-four hours was hard enough, but the days she'd spent in here, with only the food and water Sun provided, was a slow, tedious wait for a destination Blake wasn't even aware of. If she'd known she'd have to do this when she'd abandoned her new home, she would have brought at least one book with her.
Blake lay down on her chest, her chin resting on her arms, rereading her favorite book in her mind. It wasn't the same, but it was close enough.
A cat ear twitched underneath her bow. She heard Sun coming before he lifted the fabric off the lifeboat and climbed in beside her.
"Sup?" he said.
"Any updates?" she asked.
"Actually, yes," Sun said. "These guys are being called to some kind of meeting?"
Blake looked at him. "About what?"
"They said something about a location," Sun said. "I think they're going to say where we're going."
Blake's amber eyes widened. "When is this happening?"
"In a few minutes," Sun said.
"Where?"
"Follow me, I'll show you."
The stowaways peered out of the lifeboat. The coast was clear. They climbed out, and Sun started leading the way. For the first time on this voyage, they made their way below deck. Sun lead her through the twists and turns of the maze that was the Petrox Explorer.
Finally, Sun came to a stop at a door. He held a finger to his mouth, gesturing for Blake to stay quiet. She gave him a look that said, "Do you even know me?" He shrugged a, "Good point," and pushed the door open.
Multiple White Fang soldiers, probably higher-ups, were seated in rows, looking at Roman Torchwick. None of them had noticed the two staring through the door. Behind Torchwick was a projector screen.
"Good morning, everyone," he said, his voice calm but filled with enthusiasm. "Now, I would've loved to tell you about this earlier, but I couldn't risk anyone talking about this."
He smiled, and let his cane come to rest on the ground. "Men, we may be sailing into the history books. Neo, hit the lights."
Neo, the woman who had been with Torchwick when he'd arrived on the ship, took a light switch, and started to dim the lights. A subtle glow came from Blake's eyes, and she squinted to make sure nobody would catch them. She and Sun looked at each other, and slowly stepped inside, closed the door behind them, and stood in a corner to watch the meeting.
Neo stepped up to a projector, and turned it on. Roman stepped away from the screen, and an image appeared, showing the path the ship was traveling. A circle marked the location they were going to.
