Blake was alone.
She was used to the feeling. It wasn't one she enjoyed, but she dealt with it. She assumed Sun had been taken into another room similar to the one she was being held in. It was a small, well-lit room, with one table and chair in the middle. It wasn't an interrogation room, but she assumed it was the best they had. Her weapons had been confiscated.
Blake stayed in silence, rethinking her decision to speak up in the meeting. She'd known much about that island Torchwick was talking about. The dangers she'd heard had always haunted her whenever she thought about it. It was hard just to keep her composure while she told those stories to the White Fang. She had never been to that island, never planned to, and never had any sort of connection to it. She couldn't even remember where she'd heard those stories she'd told. There was just something about it that haunted her. Made her feel unlike herself.
That may have been why she'd spoken up. They were going to that island. She never wanted to go there. It scared her. The White Fang were cruel, but they were not evil. Misguided, but not evil. She had old friends in this group, and she couldn't let them walk to their deaths.
That was how she rationalized it, anyway. In truth, she didn't know what had come over her in there. All of those words just poured out beyond her control. She had never been to this island before, but there was just something about it that made her act without thinking.
The door behind her opened, and she blinked out of her thoughts. She didn't turn around. She knew Torchwick was behind her, and she could hear two more sets of footsteps. Neo stepped up beside her.
"I'd like my bow back," she said.
She hadn't had the chance to put her bow back on before she'd been dragged away, and it had been taken from her along with Gambol Shroud.
"To hide who you are." She recognized that voice. "I always knew you were trouble, Blake."
It was Lavi Desmond. He was a faunus with a shark's fin on his back. He was a large, bulky man, with a white beard and hair. He was a good sailor, and often captained White Fang voyages.
She held back a wince at the mention of her name. They knew who she was. She'd tried to think of a way to deceive them, in the hopes none of them remembered her, or that most of them didn't know she'd left them. She'd known those chances were slim, and this proved that to her.
"You never gave me a chance, Lavi," she said.
"Desmond," he corrected. "Captain Desmond."
Blake rolled her eyes.
"You're Adam Taurus' ex," Torchwick spoke up. "I didn't know he even felt love. How'd you do it, Kitty-Cat?"
Blake scowled, partly at the nickname, and partly to hide the guilt she felt whenever she thought of Adam.
"I didn't," she said, simply.
Torchwick spotted her resistance to the question. This was clearly a touchy subject. He'd let her emotions be for now, but he could definitely use this in the future.
"I'm going to ask for the last time," he said, "what are you doing here?"
Blake stared. She'd told Sun they were here because of interest in the island. She'd said it with her lips, and he'd repeated it. She just had to keep this story up.
"My interest in your island has nothing to do with Dust," she said.
"You're a terrible liar," Torchwick said. "You couldn't find out where we're going."
Blake glared at him. "I know more about this island than any of you. I'm telling you, it is dangerous. If you step on that beach, you've doomed yourself."
